Am I the only one?

Am I the only one?

So does anyone else get hot flashes? I'm 18 years old so I can't think of a reason that I have them. Anyone?

Hey there. Hope you feel well today. You r not alone. I am 32 and have been getting hot flashes now for a few years. My mom told me just yesterday that its a bit early but maybe u r going thru a change. Bullcrap...its related to chiari so dont believe others who dont know what they r talking about. .my main problem is im always cold unless its 80 out. But heat makes me feel worse. And bam out of nowhere im sweating my but off. Then im cold aagain, then super hot. Its a daily issue for me.

Could you have something wrong with your thyroid?  Some autoimmune conditions can sometimes go along with Chiari.  Just something to look into.  It's easy enough for your dr to check your thyroid levels, it's just a blood test.

thanks for your replies.
jenshead, my mom has thyroid issues so it's possible. I'm having a physical mid November so I'll check then.
sexybare, i've always had those issues too. when I was younger my parents would get mad at me when we went out to eat because i would always forget my jacket and end up FREEZING in the restaurant....now i get mad at myself for forgetting lol my room is warmer than the other rooms in my apartment and out of nowhere i will get a bad hot flash. especially when i'm trying to go to sleep.

I am 22 now and can remember having hotflashes since being about 18. I still have them. I also have never had a period and go figure over the past four years my estrogen levels have decreased significantly according to one of my doctors and she accounts it with that decrease which she thinks is related the brain being compressed putting pressure on the hypothalmus-pituitary circuit.

Hope this helps!

Have your estrogen levels checked. After the birth of my daughter I started having hot flashes and insomnia and had my levels checked and they were low. Once I started taking meds I felt better and slept better and no more hot flashes except just every once in awhile around period time.

It's funny that you would ask this question.  I am 49 years and I never in my life every sweat.  After I had 3 surgeries due to Chairi I find I sweat all the time.  I had every thing checked and every thing was fine.  My doctor told me woman usually don't start their change until they are in the early 50's.  So I think it does have something with Chairi.  Yeck seem's like every thing we have to deal with every day has something to due with Chairi.  I hate to see what going through my change will be  because the hot flashes are no fun, but what is having Chairi.

Hi...there r many reasons y this could be happening and many of the posters above mentioned most of them...the pituitary gland being compressed...the thyroid being an issue as we tend to have auto immune related conditions with chiari...see Hashimoto's thyroiditis.

And I told my NS about get very warm when I need to relieve my bladder...he said it  is a neuro issue that is getting crossed signals.....for yrs I never felt the urge to go, only had terrible pain down my spine and figured it was the need to go....

It is very strange the way our body is affected, but this is a neuro issue and it can affect all aspects of our bodily functions and how we feel.

Linnie,,,same here...I never sweat until post op...which I found weird....

I also went thru menopause early...so get testing to see where ur hormone levels r....this really affected my ability to have the family I had originally wanted, but am happy with what I was blessed with. But if the Drs would have listened to me sooner things may have been different who knows....
