I have this. It's been there a couple years, I noticed it a few times but thought it was a dimple but it's just on my right side. It's gotten worse, really deep now & has a purplish color to it now. It is not a scar, please let me know if you know what this is.
HI and welcome to the Chiari forum.
May I ask where your dent is? If near the base of the skull it is possible to be whip lash....the muscles twist and then pull in the opposite direction they should go....and this causes pain.
With the help of a PT tech you should be able to retrain the muscles to relax and go back to the original position.
Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.
May I ask you the same question I asked of the other posters here....do you also have a Chiari DX?
Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum,
I did a reply to this when you posted but now I do not see my reply......do you also have a Chiari DX?
Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.
Do u also have Chiari malformation?.....wondering if this may be a muscle in a spasm , twisted the wrong way causing the indentation?
I have a dent in my back, beside of my spinal cord. It does not hurt. My husband found it rubbing my back, he said did you know that you have a dent in your back the next day I looked at it i the mirror and the it was near my bra. I went to the chiropractor he done xrays and said everything seemed fine. He couldnt explain it.
Hmmmm, well it could very well be a muscle is twisted in teh wrong direction...in a spasm of sorts creating the "dent"
I had this with whip lash....all the muscles in my neck , shoulders and back twisted and hurt like heck.....but I did have an indentation , but up at my neck/skull area....all caused by the muscles.
A PT if well informed on chiari may be able to help if that is what it is.

No, I haven't had any surgery or back injury. The bad part is that area of my spine has never been imaged. It's mid-back, close to where my bra snaps. The pain is really bad, but to the left of the spine is a huge dent. I am waiting on my neurologist to call back, but it is taking while. I will keep you posted. I do go to Duke the end of this month and will have them take a close look, but want to make sure it is nothing I need to worry about today. :o).
Tks
Well, I know if it was at the base of ur spine it could be a sacral dimple indicating the possibility of tethered cord.
I am not sure about ur "dent" or exactly where it might be, but, it u had an injury to ur back at ne time it is possible that it could be related to that.....
I also am not sure, but I do believe it is possible for ur cord to tether at ne location on the spine....u haven't had previous surgery on ur back have u?
