Bad News

Well....I promised to post after I went to my new Chiari Specialist. He was very good...but his news wasn't. He said I do have definite Chiari symptoms, but he feels I also have symptoms of ALS. My mom died of ALS 3 years ago and there is no cure. He is sending me to an ALS Specialist before considering on treating my Chiari. He said "why treat the Chiari if I have ALS (because it's terminal). I guess he's right. Please pray for me.

  Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

Have u had related conditions ruled out? Many of the related conditions can cause many of the same symptoms.

Have u had a MRI to make sure u do not have another obstruction of CSF?

Are u sure ur issues are not weather related?

I know this is a lot of questions but it can help determine what u may want to look into next....

I had decompression surgery twice and still having headaches one 6 years ago and the next a year later, dizzy spells, ringing in my ears that is so loud sometimes I turn the tv up and my husband looks at me like ...... Well you know. Shoulder, neck pain, I just can't seem to get off the couch some days, like today, because my head hurts so bad. I have taken so much medicine today, nothing is helping, I just don't know what else to do. I'm so tired of these headaches! Anyone have any other suggestions?

  So very sorry to hear you received this news today. I have a dear friend who has ALS. Not a diagnosis anyone wants. Hopefully you will get some definitive answers when you see this specialist!
