Good luck Tuesday with your MRI...remember to request copies of the MRI and the report when you sign in for the testing....most times they will give you a disk of the MRI b4 you leave and have you sign a paper to allow them to mail you the report when it is ready ( this can take a week for the Dr to prepare)
Thank you call for the advice. My doctor is concerned enough to move up my MRI. So I will have answers soon. It is scheduled for Tuesday.
I do not have the same situation that you do; however, I can identify with your fear. You already experienced the really scary thing - the decompression surgery. It sounds like the responders above have the technical knowledge you are seeking. Keep posting to feel the support of others. I will pray for relief from your headaches.
After decompression there should be lesser icp wave (systole-diastole icp difference). So for sure, the shunt working environment has been changed.
Well I hope it is an easy fix for you.....I know it is scary, but if you went this long with this one maybe the next will work for just as long or longer : )
He wants to check it at the MRI and make a determination. But if I continue to have pulsating headaches he might to replace it. Which scares me since I have never had a revision
Hi we do have a few people with shunts....and it may not be a failed shunt as much as you may need a revision post op since the CSF flow was changed....in fact you may no longer need it.....
Have you considered your hydro was a result of the herniation of the tonsils?
It is also possible for your shunt to have gotten blocked too....so a revision may be in order....what does your NS that did your decompression say about all of it?
