Constipation & Vagus Nerve Question :)

I was just wondering how many of you with brain stem compression are having issues with constipation or slow digestion. I am dealing with chronic constipation/slow digestion and always have. I recently had a colonoscopy done and my findings were normal. I am now going for an endoscopy next week and then an emptying test. Anyway, I have a hunch that maybe all of these symptoms are being caused by the Vagus Nerve being compressed.... Just a hunch, but I definitely want to look further into it so if any of you out there have any info on this it would be greatly appreciated. I know one of the signs is a lack of the gag reflex which I have completely lost. I haven't mentioned any of this to the GI Dr. because I want them to search everything they know first then if I still have no answers I will ask about the Vagus Nerve :)

Hi...I have had Bowel and bladder issues for as long as I can remember and was dx'd with IBS. I now know that can not be an accurate dx, but...there is something a mis.

I was never told the vagus nerve being compressed could add to this issue...but, I did have issues with Hashimoto's, and EDS as well as Chiari....add tethered cord and u have a bowel and bladder mess.

I would get a full feeling, but not the urge to go....it felt like it did not move down where it needed to be in order to go...and I could go weeks without going....

Since my PFD, I do have a change in my bowel issues and do see a diff.....it may be some chiari and some of my other conditions, but I still see a big change when there is a change in weather.....so even tho I have diff habits post op, there r lingering issues...but I had them my whole life....and it may take a while longer to see more changes.

Please let me know what ur Dr says regarding the vagus nerve, I am very curious.

I too have had ongoing bowel issues. My gag reflex comes and goes as well as my bowel problems. I do not get constipated. I just cannot go. I feel the urge but when I sit down...nothing! No problems when I do go but sitting there and having no urges or feelings gets very frustrated. It will last for It would be great to hear what they do or do not find.
