Disability

Have any of you gotten disability due to Chiari Type 1 with Syringomyelia?

I'm getting Social Security Disability. It took about 7 or 8 months from the time I first filed, through one rejection, then approved after it was reviewed.

I still have pretty severe balance issues and some paralysis, so it's not a guaranteed thing, but you should start the process if you think you are really disabled enough not to work. It's back paid, so you want to get the process started as soon as you can.
