Emotional Days????

Hi all, Im Devin from the site www.devinsdiary.com  I thought Id give medhelp a try since a friend loves you all so much :)   What do you all do the most on your hard days? How do you find ways to cheer yourself up when your body feels so down? I like to use music, and rest, laughter from my kids etc, but need some more ideas as there are never too many ways to try to get happier- RIGHT??!!

Lu reminded me of another thing...crossword puzzles. I did those a lot after surgery and I found them really relaxing and reassuring that my brain was still functioning properly!! lol

Hello and welcome. I must say I love the people here. Theyvhave all helped me so much psychologically through all this.  With that said...... When I am really down search the internet for survival stories... I read people with so much worse and the fight they took and it gives me hope and reminds me that as bad as I feel there is so much worse to face.  I really love the chicken soup for the soul books.  I am also a very out landish since of humor. I can make anything into a joke (sometimes inappropriately lol).   I found puzzles to be helpful too but I can't sit and do them much so the ones on the computer work and at least my kids can't loose those prices. Lol.  Oh. And pogo.com is nice.  Mindless slit machines. And games that don't hurt too bad to play. : ).   So glad u came to check us out.  U will love the great support

Hi Devin...welcome to the forum!

I have to say that music is also one of the things I use to get me out of the dumps. I plug my Ipod in, turn it up as loud as I can stand and pick some good tunes where I know all the words and then just sing!! I'm pretty sure my kids would rather that I didn't (especially in the car!) but it's one of those things they just have to put up with!!

Another thing I do a lot, if I am feeling grumpy, is to drop everything and just get outside. Spending an hour or so, in my garden or playing with the kids outside, makes a world of difference for me! In fact, this summer I have made myself get at least an hour a day which really improves my mood.

Also, I make sure that I have some fun...there are a lot of things that I can't do now but I have made a list of things I can. Things the kids and I can enjoy together, and then I make sure I do them. Having fun with the kids, even in the situation I am in now, proves that out of something bad, a lot of good can still come out of it.

Your diary sounds like a great idea, I'll have to check it out!

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

Well, it all depends on the day I guess, but the family of friends here many times r the ones that help the most...talking to others that have BTDT and understand all too well what we r going thru.

Knowing that chiari can affect our emotions helps put it in perspective....and allows me to take a step back....

We do a few fun threads here as well to get our minds off problems and focus on fun, being silly..ect....those threads r slow in the summer, but come back to school we will have them up and running again....

We r happy to have u join us, not so for the reasons u came, but I hope u find that we can help u feel happier too : )
