I made my DD BD cake. It was a dinausore land.

I take drawing leson. I'm not very good, but it help me relax and/or relese fustration.

Xstitch was never something I could do..too little for me...I like bigger projects....I like to sew...crochet..paint....and just try new things.

Soon enough! For now my DDs are still decorating the house for halloween! But soon enough I'm going to start making salted dought so they can make Christmas presents and decorations to friends and family themself.

I'm a crafter & just found a great pattern for a reusable grocery bag made out of a pillow case!! It's super cute & I plan to make some for Christmas gifts. I'm gonna check thrift stores for vintage pillow cases to use. I'll post a pic.

I do photography too & found I have issues with my hands being unsteady also. I found that using a monopod (tripod w/only one leg) helps a lot! You can pick one up at walmart for around $20. Hope that helps!

I'm a crafter & already working on Christmas gifts. I just found a pattern for making reusable grocery totes out of vintage pillow cases. I tried it with a few pillow cases I had on hand & love it! I posted pics.

I used to make stained glass stepping stones but cannot use the glass cutter at the moment.  I used to sew but cannot thread a needle....hand issues.  Photography has become challenging with balance and vision issues.  I'm just a mess right now.  I do appreciate the smiles all of you provide on occasion though.

  I move back and forth on projects as to what I can do at the time...for a long time I could not crochet...but, I have been able to do it again....smaller items r more diff as my eyes r more of a problem for me.

But, I use quilting thread which is stiffer and easier to thread the needles...or I ask my DH...lol...

I just finished a project last week. It is a table cloth that I found in my mothers belongings. A stamped x-stitched Christmas table cloth. She had started it and stitched the Tree, ornaments, and presents, but didnt finish it. She passed away in 2000 with a 2 month battle of brain cancer. I am very excited to have finished it and that it will be on the table this year as we celebrate!
I am getting ready to start a project for my brother. His wife commented that he would love a photo album of our childhood. I have no idea how I am gong to pull this off in time, but I am keeping my fingers crossed.
Am I the only one that thinks "home made" presents are still better than store bought?

  No u r not alone, I made gits last yr that r pictured in my profile page...a huge tray of peanut butter fudge and  I felted santa's, penguins and a snowflake and made a few scarves.....

I have been trying for yrs to get my sisters to make the gifts we exchange, to me they mean so much more.

My family decorates wooden boxes and clothes pins, they come in handy for everything and some are pretty and some have crazy or rude comments painted on them, no matter what it is a surprise each time you reach up on the fridge into the wooden box to get a clothes pin out :)  I use them for food clips and such so they end up all over the place which is why we can keep making more for each other every year :)  It is fast, easy and fun!  not to mention not very expensive and quite useful :) ... I know it is Saturday now but I still wanted to share!

Last year I went and bought a bunch of wooden knobs...like for drawers and cupboards and I painted them different colors. I bought many different color acrylic paint pens. When the kids came home for the Thanksgiving I put everything out and asked them to paint one...they did 20...I put them on my kitchen cupboards...I think I will have them do this again. Although it was not my original intention I like seeing something they created everyday, especially with 1 in Afghanistan, 1 at Ft. Benning and my DD and GD 500 miles away. Oh when they were dry I coated them with varnish.

thinking of the "Damn-it Doll" my mother and her co-workers use to keep in their office.  It was the awfulest looking thing!  When one of them was having a rough day, or had a difficult person to deal with they would get the doll out of the drawer, grab her by the feet and band her head against the counter and yell out the "Damn-its".  I could think of a few frusteratd people that could use this gift!

putting together the Thanksgiving feast menu today.  Thinking about heading out to the store to start the shopping. I really want to get it done to avoid the crowds, but hate going by myself!  So much easier if I someone with me.
The family is really putting out the requests this year, it looks like I will be spending A LOT of time baking this year. I plan to have my kids get in the kitchen with me to start handing down my mothers pie recipes.

Pumpkin pie, pumpkin roll, coconut custard, bread pudding.....and I need enuff  for here and to take to DD's...so I have my hands full with that too !!

I've been crafting as well, however, it's with a bunch of 5-10 year old boys!! They are better crafters than you'd think!!!

Some of for the boys to take home and we are packing up shoeboxes for the Salvation Army and they will be putting some homemade gifts in those too. Some of the crafts are for badge completion, like the dreamcatcher, which is part of the Aboriginal Awareness badge.

Yes the bending part is a bit of a pain, I am with you on that one!! I would love to have a whole new professional kitchen...think that is too much to ask from Santa????

  I have a recipe for brownie muffins that really r good and are weight watcher approved. I want to add coconut to them and see how that works and then put in tins for gifts this yr....last yr I made peanut butter fudge.

have you ever tried coconut oil? it adds a good coconut flavor to foods when replaced with regular vegetable oil. i think it's a bit expensive though.

No but was just talking about that....the cake I made dose not have oil and most of what I make I replace with apple sauce or pumpkin so it is better for u....and weight watcher approved.

Last week I handed in 17 fully packed shoeboxes into the Salvation Army!!

Now I am focusing on getting this last week of school over with and then all next week will be baking time:) This is a tradition with the boys, they each pick a couple things they want to make. It's cute b/c my oldest son is going to bake for his girlfriend's present!

Well I wanted them on the tree. But the kids wanted to give CRAFTED gift (they expresed them self quit clearly when they started painting them. I didn't had a choice!!! LOL) to theire teachers, school direction, grand-mas, grand-pa and favorite aunts and oncles! So I will have at least a big five of them on my tree.  LOL   But they won't give away OUR nativity scene.

Tomorow saturday we are supose to make an other oven of decorations, and these ones I hope I'll have them almost fresly painted in our tree.

Oh goodness...lots of projects hanging out right now. I have 30 bows to make for my buisness, two blankets(baby) I am putting  together, a set of curtains, a bow holder, and starting to redo my daughters room...Paris themed for Paris my DD, Oh...and I started making my 1st pageant dress recently(not the whole toddlers and tiaras thing though)

I guess it is also time to start planning my kiddos bday cakes ...I have two in June a week apart and I make theirs from sctatch myself

No, really still working on a large walnut cabinet with a few inlays and my own creation that is - will be if it works out - kind of a cross between inlay, marquetry and intarsia. Whenever or if ever it seems, this project is done I'll post a couple pictures. Right now all there is to post are some cut up boards in a stack.

Today all of MY projects are being put on hold. My sons came home with their family projects for the MARDI GRAS season that kicks off this weekend. We must as a family (inc all members) make a float out of shoeboxes, beads, and whatever else mommy can come up with. I need a theme though. Thinking maybe Transformers goto Mardi Gras since my little man loves his "guys".
project 2 and 3 ~ making each of my boys costumes from poster boards and t shirts for the vocabulary parade at school. Each costume must represent their word. (foot) (lawyer) and have the meaning. I have a week to work on these, but I really want to make them good, because they are both "A" students and deserve the best ideas and work. (there is a small contest) I will try to take pics as I go along....This is going to be alot of fun...if my Chiari brain doesnt decide to interfer...lol.
If any of you have any suggestions as well for the foot thing, let me know, I love getting new ideas :)

I am sorry. I tend to forget that not every has mardi gras. Being from New Orleans my whole life, it is a natural part of our schools and holidays, because it is our culture, lol.

It can sometimes be ALOT like halloween. The vocabulary parade is where the students walk through the drivee of the school and throw beads to the others students. prek, k, and 1st throw to 2,3,and 4th grade...and vice versa. I am thinking of taking two posterboards, one for the front and one for the back. attach them with string or yarn, with his head through the middle. on the front I will put a HUGE foot that we decorate with word inside of it, and on the back making the the measurement of a foot, like maybe a ruler that shows 12inces that make a foot. To top it off I am thinking a hat that has various sizes of different feet sticking out of the top of it. Embelished with mardi gras beads to outline the foot on the poster boards, ans maybe a pair of sunglasses with glitter in purple green and gold. Haven't gotten any ideas for the lawyer yet, other than making an empty coca cola case into a briefcase with the word lawyer on it in gold glitter. What do you think? Can you see it in your head...lol

OH ...That is a WONDEFUL thought. I am not sure I can go that far though, because he is in 1st grade and has to be able to dress himself that day. Think that it may be a little to complex for him, but I am def. going to give it looksie, and see what inspiration comes. I am very excited about these projects. It really gives me a chance to help my kids get very creative. When we do these projects...we clear the living room, other thatn the sofa and tv, and lay down newspaper. THe kids are allowed total creative freedom with paints glitter and pom poms, or anything else we may decide to use.

Well, we completed the float and turned it in. We have started working on the "costumes". I spray painted an old coca cola case as the breif case, and I am going to allow him to deco it anyway he wants, other than it will say lawyer on it. I cut a tie to put on the shirt, and we have started the foot projec too...they are coming along, slow but well. The sever vertigo and dizziness and head pain today has kind of hampered some of the progress.

Sounds like you have some cool thing's going on.  It's good that you do your project's on the floor.  It has to help for you so you don't have to bend over so much.  I love when my grand kids come over.  I love to create and let them do whatever....it's fun.  We do a lot of painting.  One good idea for your kid's, I do this with the little one's.  We go for walks and they find rocks and we bring them back and they get to paint on them when they dry I spray a clear coat on them and have the kid's hide them in my garden so when I'm out there I find them.  It's a lot of fun.  I have a room in my house my DH called JoAnn fabrics, so when the kid's have a school project they know where to come for items.  Sound's like you have yours under control.  Have fun.  You guy's are getting me back into the mood to get my baby quilt out and actually finish it.  On a good day  :)    enjoy your projects

wasted my morning in bed sleeping...caught a head cold!  Last night the kids and I made a new sew fleece blanket in mossy oak camo for the oldest DS. Today we will be making the little DS his. Now the girls want one but with hot pink backing. Guess I will be traveling to JoAnns this weekend!  Yum, Brownies sound wonderful. But I only like the dry crunchy edges that no one eats :)   Selma, glad to my husband isnt the only one to start surprise projects :/   Hope it goes ok and doesnt require to much time or help from you.....what kind of fudge?

I do ..I do..I do!!!! This last week or so I have been on a hunt for a really good brownie/ choc / fudge recipe. I want to take real hersheys bars and melt them down to liquid and mix it into a brownie or fudge mix !!! My mom made the best fudge, and I am still looking for her recipe....I thougtht it was in her recipe box, which I thankfully have, but its not in there :(

I would be willing to try another recipe though.

i have a confession to make..... I do not like any chocolate! ***hearing your gasps****, yes-I know...something is wrong with me!  When hubby and I were dating, he use to do deliveries near my work, which also had a Sees candies store next to it. So every couple of days, he would bring my the cute little black and gold box with a truffle in it. I would politely take a nibble and tell him I would save it for my lunch. This went on for months!!!!  Then, one day he came to my moms house to watch a hockey game with me. I asked him if he would get the drinks out of the fridge, while I was busying getting  the snacks. He opended the fridge door to see every box lined up along the top shelf of the fridge...I had forgotten about them being in there.  He said nothing at discovering them, and waited until he was leaving and said, so were you ever going to tell me that you dont like chocolate?  I blushed as I realized he was in the firdge!  So from then on he would bring me other little gifts and notes, and then brought the girls I worked with the chocolates!
But my kids have his sweet tooth for chocolates!

hhhmmmmm, weird...my computer screen is has a strange wetness dripping from it?????....Oh, it CWs drool!!!!  LOL!
My DD made brownies last night...thats one way to get me to eat chocolate. But I like them kinda hard and crunchy...to she made them very thin, then we cut them up and let them set out all night....uuuummmmm, crunchy brownies and coffee for breadfast!!! ....oh, coffee-that is a short coming for me. I was raised on it! In R.I. there is a company called Autocrat that makes a coffee syrup from heaven! In R.l. kids dont drink chocolate milk, we drink coffee milk! and we put it on everything!!!  My kids love it, but I dont order it as often as I should...feel guilty about the sugar!
So I am thinking of you CW and Selma this morning while enjoying my brownines and coffee!!!! <3

its really just a sweetened coffee syrup. similar to a chocolate sauce syrup, only coffee. Its a see thru dark amber color(kind of like a molassas look-only thinner), and you mix it in milk, or on top of ice cream, or mix in milkshakes. It was my favorite milkshake at the creameries...which are mostly gone now. It is DELICIOUS!!!!

Well I dont make the coffee milk from the special syrup, but when I was a little girl, and now that I have kiddos, I male coffee milk. I/They love it. :) I am going to look yours up though jiggle. You know we spent time in R.I. when I was little, as a matter of fact I spent my first birthday there in Wheeling (spelling). I wonder if thats where my mom got that from??

If you spent anytime there, that has to be where she got it from! I love RI and miss it terribly. My husband and kids have never been. I lived in Coventry, but have family all over...which means a street or two away, everything is so much closer back there.

Math conference here I come. I love math conferences. My math club supervisor at Bakersfield college got me addicted. Now I am independently going to a undergraduate conference and being one of the student speakers on encouraging the disabled to go into math. :) Wish me luck. It starts tomorrow but I have to go to my parents for transport and lodging with them till sunday. I just hope I don't fall asleep during the keynote speaker like the first time I went. What can I say he was boring.

I am trying to work on easter dress and bow orders as well as St pattys bows and tutus..bleh. I hate when my orders become so abundant that my hobby becomes annoying. I know it is a good thing that I have lots of orders, but I just dont feel very well, and using the sewing machine right now is so hard.
Drewlevas~ so pretty. I love the rosaries. Half of the easter bows I am making involve crosses. I make them where the cross dangles from the middle of them laying over white cross ribbon.

Well I do have a request for a bridal bouquet.....made of sea shells....I am trying to figure out what type of shells and then what accents....

Depending on the bow and the work I have to put into it...I charge anywhere from 5-7 for a small bow, 8-12 for a medium, and 13 and up for a large bow. Believe it or not...that is actually cheap compared to most who charge 15 for a small single layer bow. Most of mine are double and triple layers ot more. The one with the crosses are medium but they are 16 becuase of the cost of the crosses and the work. I have 14 different bows to make and 4 dresses. Normally it only takes me about 20 minutes per bow...but right now it is taking me much longer...around an hour...due to my eyes and the shaky hands. I have pricked myself with pins about 5 times so far...lol. I really do enjoy it. My word of mouth business has really increased in the last two months...unexpectedly ...but I have to be grateful. I just had to turn down a 30 bow order for a dance school though...because I jsut wouldnt be able to do them without help by wednesday and I havent trained anyone to help me yet...though it would have been a great  order to fill....I just couldnt take them on, knowing what I already have on my hands due by thursday. I told the lady that if she would call me two weeks in advance next time it would be no problem...so she said she would wait for her bows until good friday...so after these..I have those to start on...lol.

A sea shell bouquet sounds beautiful....I hope you share those pics once finished!!!

I just found a way to personalize bows that is awesome!! If you take the printer transfer paper...you can personalize each bow easily for just pennies and all you have to do is iron it onto whatever ribbon you want to use!! They are so cute :)

  Oh I will...I am waiting on the bride to let me know what shells she wants.....she is the one that asked for the little mermaid pics I  painted for her grad party....she loves the beach...and will have a destination wedding.

My newest project is ~ I am starting to peice together ideas for decorating my little girls room. She hasnt had a big girl room yet, just my old comforter with some curtains I made her. So, since she loves all teh eiffel tower stuff and pink and black and green things, I am probably going to go with a Paris theme, I mean how cute would it be for a little girl named Paris to have her room decorated with all things Paris !! I can t wait to get started, but I have to get through Easter first. I do decorate some Selma. The kids make all sorts of decorations, and I use those to decorate, along with a few things I have made over the last few years. Happy Friday everyone !

We don't decorate for Easter, but I make the each of the kids an Easter basket each year and then we do what are called Cobwebs.

I tie kite string to each basket and hide it. Then I unravel the kite string all around the first floor of our apartment ... weaving in, out and around furniture, different rooms, cris-crossing the string with the others so they have to work together to get their baskets.

This year we are decorating eggs so I can hide those as well.

ODS- Cute idea with the baskets....I use to do a egg hunt with the plastic eggs for mu DD  but have stopped since she is older, once she has children I may give it a go again...love ur string idea and may try it :  )

I always make an egg tree, baskets and I have large garland I keep up and put egg lights on for Easter...and I have a few Easter candy dishes so I get them out...doing that now so I can get my other stuff done...DD and her hubby and little Miss Lucy will be here this yr.

  Yes...DD got me hooked b4 her wedding...we got ideas from there for it....and I think she spends a hour at least everyday on it if not more...lol...

I will see about uploading some pics...I do not have my scanner set up right now, but will look into  that...plus we do have a member that lives over in Paris....she may be willing to help : )

Wow ! That would be amazing. I am making her a tutu holder right now. She has so many...lol. So, I got tired of having to go get them out of the closet for her, so I came up with the idea of a tutu holder. Not sure how well it is going to work or come out, but I will post a photo when I am done.

Pinterest can be very addicting, but thank goodness I just found it, or it could have been bad. I love to create things, and it is just so inspiring when I look at stuff that others have made...lol

I bet all of the DIY for her wedding made it all so much more special, because it was handcrafted for just her wedding :)

  Yes....I did not use ne one idea from the site for the wedding or shower, just took  clues from some things done...what is funny is we did a few things and later saw it on there being used the same way...DD found that funny and said  they copied us...lol...

The one thing I did on my own I love the most was her head piece, using the bodice of my dress to make the cap, so she was wearing my dress, but not...lol...it meant so much to me and to her.

Started picking up things to start on Paris' Paris room...lol. An eiffel tower wall decal, the letters of her name that I am going to paint, and the material to start on her bed skirt and comforter. I am going to have a blast with this. I cannot wait to get started.

I was looking through the wedding pics and shower pics again, and Selma it really was absolutely beautifull.

I think I might try the cobweb idea this year...My 3 would get an absolute kick our of that. I picked up their baskets today, only I got beack pales and shovels instead of actual baskets to customize for the beach trip we are planning. Only 2 days and it will depend on when they schedule surgery, but I think we should make it. Only going for a day or two.

We live in the woods--not my idea--and have had trees cut over the last 10 yr.  I finally have enough sun--in my driveway!  I bought some pink & blue storage tubs and planted tomatoes & peppers in them.  I like the way it looks, and best part is no more digging for me.

  That sounds great, I have been wanting to plant veggies again, my yard has a huge pine tree and too much shade for tomatoes and such, and it is too large to take down.....

I always dreamt  of having a raised garden so no more bending to tend it....

  This week in addition to fribbling my time in NY with my DD, her DH and their adorable puppy Lucy, I did some sewing repairs of puppy toys, and a few other fun things.....I have my crochet with me, but have yet to pick it up as Lucy is keeping me busy, and I also have my felt with me as well, that was also not touched yet,....mayb b4 I leave...lol...

I have a few projects I have to finish before surgery. Me and the kids are painting  t-shirts. (V necks)    and I have two costumes to make for my DD and my Niece for the finale number in their review. I am also  making bracelets for me and all my kiddos. Ialso found a way to  print                        pictures onto fabric to make memory pictures. I am making one for each of my kids so they  can look at me and "hug" me anytime they want while I am in the  hospital and they are away.

   Oh r u using the iron on transfer for the photos? I did that with a memory quilt for DD when she was in High school, she had to make it, so it is what I suggested...and it worked well.

U have a lot to do I hope u have helpers...lol...

No, I made my own transfer paper  out of freezer paper. It is such an awesome tecnique. I am putting  their (my kiddos) picture on a V-neck with the phrase;
They are the reason I fight Chiari Malformation.

Ii really is rprecious. you take a peice of freezer and spray the nonwaxy side with spray adhesive and glue the reg whilte printer paper to it.  Trim the edges to the size of the printer paper. take your image and open in word and select flip image horizantally and the selct print to fit page. Then make sure that your paper is in your printer so that it will print on the waxy side and print. When finished  take   your peice that you are transfering to and spray lightly with hairsspray to set imagae and then lightly dampen the fabric with a spray bottle. Lay  the image transfer on to the fabric and take a flat rounded glass  a roll until the image is transfered/ I found it helpful to tape the edges. It really is  neat and  the cool part is after your done you can wipe of the freezer paper transfer and use it again. It really is a neat trick.

No problem. Also...if you wanted to put the picture or print on  fabric....all you have to do is adhere the fabric to the freezer paper and cut it to measure a regular   piece of printer paper. I suggest that you use regular fabric though..nothing to thick or raised or furry. lol. Just place the paper in the printer with the fabric facing the way that your printer will print it straight onto the fabric. Make sure you use an inkjet printer as the laser jet gets to hot for the fabric. If you spray your fabric with starch or hairspray before you print it it will make the image more permanent and less likely to run. Just make sure tolet it dry before you put it into the printer. This one is really neat !!!! The first one is more of a old rustic feel  to it and this one is just exactly what you print :)-

LOL....I was transferring it onto a peice of freezer paper. Then I took the freezer paper and rolled it onto fabric.
in the second one i printed it directly onto the fabric.

since i am not in the hospital, the kids and i are doing all kinds of fun things :) i will try and take some photos !

  Sounds like if u were doing a memory quilt, the process of printing directly onto the fabric may work better, then if u want it on a shirt....right now my printer is not working at all....so this will have to wait till I get it fixed.
