The thing's we suffer just to look good LOL!!! I am actually grateful you had this experience yesterday because it did help you to realize your not ready to head back to work. I know how hard this is for you, but if your NS is a good and understanding dr. he shouldn't question you wanting to delay your return to work day. I do believe that is why we have experiences with pain issues. Your body is trying to tell you something. Now since you look good with a new hairdo it's time to set back and relax. Enjoy your day.
Well I got my hairdone yesterday afternoon and I had a ha all night annd my scar and neck still hurts today. I am definatly paying for kit, for it was too soon. Not to mention if little things like that bother me, how am I suppose to return to work on the 28th? I really am debating it. But not sure if my ns will extend my time?!
Before I went into having surgery I asked the doctor how much hair had to be removed? I had my furture daughter in law shave my head. She shaved it up to where it needed to be shaved, and with God's blessing after she shaved my head and put the rest of my hair down people couldn't even tell I had it shaved underneth. I have a lot of hair. So when surgery time came I just put the rest up in a ponytail. After surgery and the staples was out one one could tell I had surgery. I also have been blessed for being 49 I don't have any grey's yet. (knock on wood) LOL. I also suggest you wash your own hair prior to a hair visit. When I go my sweet hair dresser just spray's it down with a water bottle. Hope this will help with your next hair appt. Doesn't help to put more pain on ourselves if we can prevent it. Hope this help's for next time. I bet you feel and look beautiful. It does help you feel better when your hair is cut.
I found using a brush to get the roots helps.....I don't rely on the squirt bottle in the box.....
House calls for hair would be great!
can never seem to get my grays covered when I do it myself. Would love to find someone that does house calls!
Ouch...that's y I do my own.....it is just too much pain.....plus, it is a lot less if I do it my self....and I do it on a day I am feeling good no worries about appointments.
I too could not take the blah look of my hair any longer.
(Keep in mind I have not had surgery yet). I called ahead, asked them if they could help pad the sink to help for comfort. I was assured they would make me comfortable. Sitting for the color to process was tolerable, but the getting up and walking to the sink after created a few scares for all of them. Instant panic hit everyone in the shop while I walked. I explained "this is my new normal' , which brought on comments of, "wow, you just look so normal-we forgot until just now!"
The sink was horrible! They laid a few towels down, but it didn't help. I sat there for what seemed like forever through the shampoo, conditioning, and then came the lovely 2 minute toner followed by another rise. I was fighting back tears from the pain. I managed to make it through the remainder of the appointment for the trim. Last night while making dinner I could already tell I was headed for trouble!
I was right, up all night with a horrible HA, and have been in bed all day! Not feeling nearly as lovely as my hair looks, and almost sorry I even bothered! My great Grandmother use to say " to be beautiful, one must suffer." I think I just redefined that statement!!!!!

If you look at my profile pic you will see the ns only shaved what was nesesary. I was soo scared I would be bald, lol. But lil was removed.. And my scar goes from mid neck all the way up my head.
Hi....each dr is diff in the way they approach this surgery....and how much hair is shaved can also depend on u. For example, I have EDS and run a higher risk of rejection,so instead of using a synthetic ,bovine or cadaver patch they harvested skin from my scalp making my scar larger ten the typical PFD scar...so more hair was shaved.
Hope this helps

Just wondering how much you had to shaved off if at all for your surgery!?! Thanks for advice!
Hi....I was told to wait longer than that...it all depends on how u r healing....and when possible go to the salon with a wet head...wash ur hair b4u go 4a hair cut....
I color my own hair 4 the same issues u had....not a fun experience.....it is less expensive to buy the color and have my DH or DD help me.
