I have this and the more pain I'm in the more it happens. It's almost like I'm trying to relieve pressure subconciously.

I have the head jerking, back and forth mostly, but have once or twice had it side to side. It gets worse with different medicines, and sometimes, like you said, just out of the blue.
Mine hasn't been so bad unless it is via meds, but I think it has to do with the CSF flow and heartbeat. My CSF flow is super limited, none to the back of my head at all, and limited in the front, so sometimes when there is increase blood pressure, or dilated blood vessels, or a plane flys over, or I'm in a building with big strong machines, ( you get it), I start nodding. Sometimes its small and unnoticable, but sometimes it is large and scary. But I have noticed it usually mirrors my heartbeat.
I dunno if that helps or not, but I am hoping that my upcoming surgery will take enough pressure off that it will make it all better. have you had a CINE flow study? It might tell you if your flow is off somewhere.Good luck.
Too many drs r not well educated on chiari...and it is diff to get a dx let alone the proper treatment...do see the Drs thread....the members listed the names of their drs that they were happy with...use the list to research the drs. The list is not meant as a referral.

One thing I forgot to say was now my doc has me on so much meds it slowed the head tic. The bad thing is im so drugged up but I did a little looking around and allot of people do have head tics.
Mine goes like im saying no real fast they said its not from the chiari but they say none of its from the chiari to me. But the MRI shows I have it I just want to shake them.
I've never thought about taking my BP. It happens just out of the blue. I am supposed to go back to the dr Thursday. Sure can't come quick enough for me!!!! Maybe I should call to see if I can get in there sooner.
Thanks
Hi, is it normal...most likely not, is it possible,,,,yup.
Not all of us will have the same symptoms...something that is more normal or typical with chiari is the HA's and balance issues....
What u r experiencing is more of a "we have to get a closer look now" symptom.....call ur Dr and let him know of this new symptom asap.
Can u take ur BP while this happens, does it pulsate with the BP?,,,wondering if it is a obstruction that is visible?????
