Heart Palpitations

Question for those that have chiari, does anyone else have almost constant heart palpitations and if you do, how do you handle it?  They don't really hurt, they are just uncomfortable and at times seem to take my breath away.

I was on medicine to keep me from passing out. Once I stopped passing out, I was off the medicine. Dysautonomia comes in waves. I wasn't on meds specifically for the palpitations. But when the fainting episodes calmed down, so did the palpitations. Everything claimed down on its own- the meds actually didn't keep me from passing out any less! They just helped me feel a bit better between episodes.

Did they just calm down on there own, or did the cardiologist give you something?  I have read up on them and they don't really scare me, they are just uncomfortable and sometimes keep me awake.

I, too, have them. They come in waves for me. I had them non-stop for about 3 years and now they have calmed down to having them a few times a month- if even that often. I did see a cardiologist and have a battery of tests to make sure there were no problems. I do, however, also have dysautonomia, but I have learned when the palpitations are "normal" and when they are a red flag, so this puts my mind at ease!

Thank you for your response.  I will check with my family to see if we have any history with this and then contact my doctor.

Hi, yes, I had them too and with a family history of heart issues I had my heart checked with a Cardiogram....it is always best to get this looked at and have the test so if u do develop other issues later on u have this test to compare back to.

It can be the vagus nerve, reflux , POTS, or the chiari...so do talek to ur Dr about this symptom.
