Hit the 10 Month Mark!

Hello!
Some of you may not remember me, as I've been "hiding" for a while now!  I feel bad that I've not stopped in, especially to help answer questions for those going through this!  I'll try to work on that!  Because I know the members here were such a huge help to me when I was going through surgery and recovery!  I think I've avoided things involving chiari because I wanted to mentally block it out, fyi....that doesn't work!

I had my Decompression surgery Nov 24, 2009!  I'd have to say I'm like most, still dealing with issues.  Hardest part is dealing with the fact that Mr. Chiari will always be there and is a permenant part of my life!

I wanted to share with you that allowing time is a big help!  Things do get better with time!

Take care!!!
J

I too have not posted in a long time, but I feel I know alot about everyone just from reading the posts. Just passed my aniversary Sept. 10. Its been a struggling year. I would say that 50% of my problems from the Chiari have gone or should I say have gotten better, but every day is a little struggle and you keep pushing and then you regret it. I am still having some balance issues and double vision along with some other things, but you have to think positive. Good luck to you and everyone on this forum      Kathy

Thank you for coming back and posting!  Being 3 weeks post op, its a good reminder for me that surgery is not a cure and the road is not necessarily any shorter, but the road should be easier post op, and staying positive and allowing time is the best medicine.

I'm sorry to hear how you're still having issues though :( and completely understand needing space from the medical world while healing after surgery.  Thanks again for coming back though :)

I completely agree with the denial part...I went through that too and still do sometimes. I refuse to believe that I can't do things, so I do them and then regret it later.. I am a few months behind you (Dec. 29/09). I agree with Selma that we have to wait to heal, when I really think about it, I do realize some things have got better, it's just so slow you don't realize it.

Take care, nice to chat to you again!

Jen,

I really didn't think I was going to continue to feel better, bcuz at one point post surgery I started to feel bad again...however, closer to a yr post op I did feel like I had more control/balance....stronger in a way....it can take up to 2 yrs to fully heal inside.....so it is a slow process.
Granted I heal slow to begin with....but we all go at our own rate...do not put urself on a time table...be patient....it will come : )

Hang on to the belief....and stay positive : )

Hi!!!
It's a learning process for sure! I think I went into a state of denial for a while! That I had surgery and things would get better! I knew that is often not the case but just didn't want to believe that!

Hi Jen, Good to see you back. Sorry you are still having some issues. It is hard to accept at times that there are things we can no longer do because of CM, as Selma said we have to find a different way.......

Hey!!...good to see u again!, thanks for the update.

I am told chiari is life altering...we just have to find a diff way....it will not be easy.

Some just need to take a break from dealing with chiari issuses, especially after surgery, so no worries, just glad to hear u r doing well and that u popped back in : )
