Lidocaine patch?

Lidocaine patch?

Hey. I went to my PCP yesterday and he gave me a LIDODERM, a lidocaine patch, to try and help with the pain in my neck -he thinks if that calms down so will the migraines.. theyve been everyday constantly for well over a month and a half, and no meds help.. nor do therapeutic methods i have here at home.. Has anyone here used it before? And did it help? I tried to use it last night but it wouldnt stick to my neck.

Sorry I am not familiar with that one...but here r the side effects so u have them handy-
Lidocaine patches may cause side effects. If any of these symptoms occur, remove your patch and do not put it back on until the symptoms go away. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:

burning or discomfort in the place you applied the patch

redness or swelling of the skin under the patch

Some side effects can be serious. The following symptoms are uncommon, but if you experience any of them, call your doctor immediately:

hives

skin rash

itching

difficulty breathing or swallowing

swelling of the face, throat, tongue, lips, eyes, hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs

hoarseness

cool, moist skin

fast pulse or breathing

unusual thirst

nausea

vomiting

confusion

weakness

dizziness

fainting

Lidocaine patches may cause other side effects. Call your doctor if you have any unusual problems while using this medication

From what I read it stops the nerve from sending the signals of pain....Lidocaine (INN) ( /ˈlaɪdɵkeɪn/), Xylocaine, or lignocaine (former BAN) ( /ˈlɪɡnɵkeɪn/) is a common local anesthetic and antiarrhythmic drug. Lidocaine is used topically to relieve itching, burning and pain from skin inflammations, injected as a dental anesthetic or as a local anesthetic for minor surgery.

Hey, thanks.. Ive actually stopped using it, I erally dont think Im getting any benefits from it, and Im tired of pulling tape off of my sore neck, or out of my hair..

Maybe if it felt like it was actually doing something, I would use it reguardless of the tape problem Ive had-- the patch just deos NOT stick to my body, and the tape is the only way to get it to...

Hi Sandy! My doctor also prescribed me the Lidocaine patch for my hip and lower back. (didn't have neck or upper back pain at that time) They only worked for about a day and they also wouldn't stick to my body but I just found out last week that I tore a ligament in my hip so that my be why they didn't work. I hope your dr.can find the right med that helps with your pain!
