Hello, I am sorry you have been in an accident. That was how my symptoms started last August. I was rear ended at high speed and hit my head on the steering wheel. New symptoms after head trauma I would say is seriously something that needs to addressed sooner than later. I agree with Carolyn that you should go back and get that MRI now! Call your NS and tell him about the new trauma. He may want to move up your appt.
The headaches that only get better when lying down can mean there is high pressure. Did they diagnose you with a concussion as well? I had that and whiplash with my accident. The headache was blamed on post concussion syndrome even after the Chiari was diagnosed.
Best of luck to you. I hope you find relief. Headaches that last for days are no fun!
Pam
OH I am so sorry, that is really unfortunate. I'm sorry, I can't recall you whole Chiari situation but honestly, if you were already seeing significant symptoms before then I would be concerned about this.
Is there any way that you can contact your NS to let him know that you have been in an accident? I have heard many stories of people with Chiari who don't even know that they have it until a MVA...and then all the symptoms start. So as you can see, this can be quite a trigger.
I would go back and tell them whatever you have to to get that MRI done.
I can't comment on the whiplash but the numbness in the face, pressure in your head, ears and jaws is something I have suffered from right from the beginning and I would say it's Chiari.
Please let us know how you are doing!
Carolyn
