Thank you guys for the replies! I feel like I can relate a lot.
Hi I was having issues with emotional breakdowns & being easily aggravated (which I basically was having a pity party for myself)....lol!! I think that our bodies have gone through so many changes with this decompression surgery (plus I had an additional surgery 9 weeks after for a CSF leak). Also my life has changed quite a bit since I can't do some of the things that I used to do (water skiing, bungy jumping ect..) I also gained 30 lbs over the last year due to quitting smoking & taking steroids before my surgeries. I finally admitted to myself that I was getting depressed & had to do something to prevent a full blown nervous breakdown.........it was almost like I was mourning "the OLD ME" :( I slowly started to exercise which has helped me tremendously!!!!! Also I have to make a conscious effect everyday just to be a better person. Many people do struggle with depression after surgery, so try to find your happy place & always keep your glass half full (meaning stay positive & try to find the good in everything)!!!!!! Also it could be that your hormones are off balance so you may want to have that checked. Sending best wishes for you to find peace within!!!!!
Hi...yeah....I felt that way too....I am sure it has to do with all the nerves that were compressed and as they start working again they can be over sensitive and we can feel over whelmed at best.....It may take a little more time to see some changes....and I would ry to deal with it without meds if you can....I just kept telling myself it was the surgery and I feel much better now and did not require meds.....BUT if you feel you need help do call your Dr.
