Nausea

Hello everyone. It has been quite awhile since I posted on here but I am in need of some advise. Since my diagnosis over a year ago, my symptoms have progressively getting worse, more so in the past 5 weeks. I just had my first trip to the ER because of nausea. I have been nauseated for almost 4 weeks straight along with headaches, left arm pain and extremely weak legs. They gave me Zofran, IV fluids and morphine for the headaches. I was feeling somewhat better until the next day (today). My headaches are terrible, my nausea comes and goes throughout the day and my left arm and legs are bad. Since nausea is a new symptom for me, how common is it and how many of you got rid of the nausea after decompression surgery? I am scheduled for my first (and hopefully only) decompression surgery on July 21st. I don't know how I will make it until then. I am getting so bad. Any help or advise?

Hi Sweetie....I saw ur schedule surgery on the thread for surgery dates.....I too had nausea and no longer have it post op....surgery can help with many of the symptoms we deal with .....

One thing to remember is recovery takes time no matter how good u feel post op...take the time to rest, rest and then rest some more....but make sure u walk a little every day and do ur neck exercises to help avoid stiff muscles and  scar tissue from forming.

Well wishes sent ur way <3

Thank you so much for the encouragement...I really need it. You are right. Sometimes it feels like I won't make it to the surgery...I'm trying to stay relaxed and calm. I am so glad you have gotten so much relief..it gives me hope.

Thank you again!

Hello there I had decompression surgery June  2nd this year and my constant nausea stopped.  I know how you feel and at times it doesn't seem like you can make it to your surgery date. You can do it i know it's not easy but just take it one day at a time. If you can get anything down try ginger ale and crackers maybe some light soups.  Lay in a dark room with ice packs either on your head or back of your neck which ever may possibly give you relief. I know it's not easy but you need to relax and not do to much working yourself up agrivates these symptoms at least it did for me. My last month was bad also my hearing was going I had vision problems, constant nausea and headaches it felt like my body was going to shut down I know. But you are soooooo close this will pass and you will have relief soon so hang in there. I couldn't believe how many of those symptoms disappeared after surgery immediately so remember better days are soon to come! I'd do this surgery all over again and I'm only 4wks postop and haven't even gotten full relief yet they say you need to wait even up to a full year at times. I just wanted to encourage you and let you know you can make it and you will do great God Bless and take care!
