Need a straight answer

Im just looking for a straight answer.....I have awful pain in my muscles & joints....my fingers & toes feel like they are broken, and my knees are the worst. My right knee is swollen, and all the rest of my body hurts as well. Is this or is it NOT a chiari symptom?

Hi and welcome to the chiari forum.

Many with chiari have related conditions...one is RA...another is Ehlers-Danlos, both could cause the type of issues u mentioned. Were u tested for either?

I am having the same pains today, and I was dx'd with EDS...( kindda grouchy too!! : (  )

Did u have ur PFD surgery yet?....do u have a chiari specialist?

Congratulations on ur surgery Date !! Do add it to our surgery date thread and have someone post updates ( I could get it from where we met : )...and post if u like)
Well things like EDS should be found out b4 surgery as it can affect ur recovery......EDS causes us to heal slower and to possibly reject foreign objects like a dura patch made from nething but our own skin....plus with EDS our skin is more likely to tear....so staples and stitches r out as well.

The RA is one of the conditions that may show on a blood panel...the rest would not.

MRI's would be needed for TC, and disk issues...and  it is a neuro exam with a more in depth skin biopsy with a geneticist for the EDS.

The pre op blood labs r to rule out nething that could cause a risk during surgery....infection and things like that.

I actually got a date TODAY for surgery!!!! August 2nd!!! Excited & scared at the same time! I havent been tested for anything you mentioned Selma. I have been told before that I should. I was hoping to see if they went away after decompression! Now that time is approaching fast! They do blood work as part of the pre op. Would they check for those things then?? If not, what are they checking?? LOL Thanks so much for your input & again for the invite to Join here!!! :)
