North Shore LIJ Chiari Institute

so im trying to get an appointment there for a second opinion - though ive already have my surgery.......im experiencing alot of symptoms that are keeping me from returning to work and doing things i once enjoyed.  my life is TOTALLY different ever since surgery.  i had decompression done at Cooper Hospital in NJ after going nearly unconscious with stroke like symptoms, paralysis, vomiting.....(you get the idea) so i was in no shape to leave the hospital and search for a specialist.  my nerosurgeon is a good one. Cooper is a great hospital but i was the second chiari she had ever done (i believe) so that kinda worries me.  i am gathering my mri of my brain and cervical spine along with my new patient info and FEDEXing it up to NY to see about getting an appointment. im hopeful that a doctor there that is specialized in this procedure and aliment can help me heal. im not comfortable sitting around and waiting. at least until a speacialist in this field tells me thats what i have to do.
anyone know anything about this place??

Hi...I had my surgery at TCI  (the chiari institute) there was some problems last yr, but it was right b4 I had my surgery and I had a wonderful dr that took very good care of me.B sure to complete all the forms on their web site as they will not even call for an appointment without them....and ur MRI's should be 6 months old or newer for them to work with them...most likely they will have u get all new MRI's.

Not everyone will get rid of all  of their symptoms...the surgery is to help slow progression of the condition when the patient has life altering symptoms.Once u have had surgery, and checked that it was successful, u need to be under the care of a NL (neurologist) that knows chiari.
