I was diagnosed with autonomic neuropathy a year and a half after having fossa decompression surgery for chiari malformation 1. I had numbness in my hands, arms, legs and feet well before I was diagnosed with chiari and it did not improve post-op. I've always wondered if the neuropathy was somehow caused by the chiari. I recommend discussing neuropathy with your neurologist because it effects so much more of your body than you realize and should definitely be monitored if you do have it. Best of luck!!!
I don't have finger numbness, but I can attest to toes going numb and man does it drive me CRAZY! Feels like... I don't know, unbalancing and just plain weird!
Have to say though, haven't noticed it since surgery 3 weeks ago. That makes me smile :)
Haven't noticed pain before going numb, and I haven't tested resistance in my toes either.
Hope you're having a good day :)
No problem. There may be a little on my left hand. I have no reflexes either. Just found that out. Only a slight one in my right ankle. and apparently that is common (the reflexes) with Chiari because my pcp said she suspected the reflexes would be very weak at best and that is wwhy she tested ALL of them. I would love to know though. excruciating.
Do your hands ever have EXTREME pain right before your fingers go numb? Mine do...and it is excruciating.
Wow, and no resistance in ur fingers. I wonder if this is common with Chiari ?
Thanx, for the quick reply !
