Please help...

I have a daughter who went through the decompression at 8 years old back in 2005.  We were told that she developed hydrocephalus, which a small number of them do.  She went through 9 shunt related surgeries/ICP monitors etc.  We insisted after the first 8 shunt surgeries that the shunt be removed, I wanted proof that she needed it to live.  She has not had one since.  However, we were told that it is possible for the hydrocephalus to appear again at any point in time.  Is that true, and how often does that really happen?
