I am not sure what u mean by brain stem surgery for chiari...I had a posterior fossa decompression...which is a surgery that can remove or shorten the cerebellum tonsils by cortorizing.....some bone is chipped away to make more room and a patch is put into place to hold the tonsils up where they need to be .......
A good chiari dr can handle chiari, tethered cord, cranial instability and more.
And many with chiari can have several related conditions as well.
Well if u have tethered cord and did not have surgery to release it that could be part of the problem as TC is a constant pulling down on ur brainstem.
Have u been to a chiari specialist?
When was ur last MRI?
