Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

Well from what I can read, as Pam noted u have chiari malformation...this is the malformation of the skull which forces the cerebral tonsils down onto the brain stem and since the area which should hold the cerebral tonsils is malformed and too small u can have overcrowding as well....the overcrowding can cause and obstruction to the flow of CSF...this is  vital for it to flow, when it stops, so do the signals from the brain to all extremities, organs...etc....when this happens, u can suffer a drop attack....but balance issues, blurred vision, HA's, r the main issues one with chiari deals with.

We do have a list of Chiari drs for u to use to aid ur research into chiari drs, it is not meant as a referral-not knowing where u r from, this list may not be of help as it is for the US...we do have a few other small lists started for Canada, Australia.....let us know if we can be of help-http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Chiari-Malformation/LIST-OF-CHIARI-SPECIALISTS/show/1293483

Hello and welcome!  You have been diagnosed with Chiari as you can see.  What you will find out is the size of the herniation is not as important as whether or not there is csf blockage and crowding of the brainstem.

There are several reasons your tonsils maybe herniated: trauma, acquired, congenital.  What I recommend is finding a Chiari specialist and taking your scans to see them.  There is a list here in the forum of docs members have used and liked.  There is a difference between a NS who occasionally sees Chiari patients and a NS who devotes his practice this disease.  They will be able to give you the answers that you need and give you any recommendations for treatment.  There are additional tests that will need to be done as well.

Again, welcome!  I hope you find the support and answers that you need.

Pam
