Scared...MRI Result

Hi everyone! Please give me some advice, I am a 34 year old female. I have a 1 and 3 year old boys and have been experiencing terrible dizziness for about 8 weeks now. I have it more often than not and it seems much worse in the evenings. It's like a boat rocking sensation and is worse when I turn or bend down, or look up. I had a Brain MRI done last week to rule out tumor and the results read something like no abnormalities, mild cereberral tonsillar ectopia. I do get occasional headaches at the base of my neck/skull and have for years. I called the Neuro radiologist who read my mri and wrote the report and he told me he does not feel that my dizziness could be caused by this bc it was so mild and only on one side. Do you think that sounds reasonable? Any help would me much appreciated. I have also had a rash around my bose and mouth for about 2 months as well. My dhea and cortisol levels were off the chart low... I'm hoping this could just be a hormonal imbalance? Please advise. God bless you all.

Hi. I just wanted to let you know I had dizziness very similar to you and my herniation was also larger around the sides (7-8 mm) and minimal (3-4 mm) in the back.  I had it on both sides though. I also had a face rash that I think was related to the chiari. Before the dizziness set in I had tingling and pain/stiffness in my legs and I had this strange rash on my face. Any type of heat would immediately make my face blotchy and red. Then that stopped but I always had rough bumps and mild redness on my face, more so around my chin, cheeks, and nose. My eyes were also red too sometimes. I always had a very nice complexion, so this was very weird and frustrating for me. I was told i had rosacea, but I didnt. I had decompression surgery and I no longer have a rash. I still have some dizziness but I also have craniocervical instability and need a fusion.

Please follow selma's advise and find a true specialist, it's so critical to ensure you get proper treatment.

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

You will want to find a true Chiari specialist to review your MRI and report....do you have copies of both? If not, contact the facility (not the Dr) that did the studies and always request copies of ALL testing along with reports...even blood labs.
It does not matter if your herniation is only obstructing on one side.....so you will need more testing done....brain MRI, cervical spine MRI thoracic and lumbar spine MRI......then a CINE MRI....this one checks for CSF obstructions.

Chiari rarely comes alone so your cortisol levels and the other issues could be due to a related condition...but it may also be a non related issue as well so everything should be reviewed.

Your dizziness could be Chiari related....so again, I would advise seeing a true Chiari specialist for guidance.
