Snoring worse after surgery?

Snoring worse after surgery?

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone else is snoring worse after surgery? I was diagnosed years back with sleep apnea and couldn't use the c-pap.Tried all the different masks( they all hurt the head).Anyway tested last year again said it wasn't bad enough for c-pap. Now after surgery my husband gets up during the night and sleeps on the couch because of the snoring! I thought sleep apnea was supposed to get better after surgery! Any one else having this?

Hi...my snoring got worse about a yr b4 surgery...and I am told has not let up after either.....I was not dx with sleep apnea as the sleep clinic I went to the dr wanted to try behavior modification methods first. It was a waste of my time and money...so I did not go back.

I do know that sometimes there may be an abstruction that may require yet a different type of surgery...we have a member on here  that had it not that long ago....hopefully he will pop on and comment.

My husband has said that I snore.. more than before. However, the farther I get post-op the better it seems to get so in my case I am wondering if it wasn't to do with the pain meds (makes my throat muscles relax too much!)

My snoring disappeared after surgery 2 weeks ago, but my hubby said that one night he heard me snore when I fell asleep sitting up. i guess anyone would snore in that position. Maybe try a different position? I have been sleeping on my sides and have fallen into the deepest sleep and no snoring. I'm so happy I could cry...but some symptoms are coming back -- like some of my breathing issues today and some tingling that is off and on. Maybe it's just a matter of time and healing. How long ago was your decompression?? I think I'm getting some symptoms back because I'm doing more than I should be right now. it's hard not to when you feel ok! Take it easy. Do you have that post-nasal drip back? Mine is gone and I wonder if the snoring isn't totally related to that. Good luck!

Thanks for the replies!!
Rosemarie, I had my surgery back in Sept 09.
Before surgery I used to get what I call brain drain(my sister called me nuts! she said it was post nasal drip)but I don't think it was it was white, sticky and sweet. After surgery I have not had that but feel something like that in my throat. I also thought maybe it could be the meds.

Hopefully this will reassure you.. about 2 weeks after my surgery I felt like things were getting worse not better.. I was doing too much so I took it easier and it got better. Now 4 weeks out, I feel like things are much better again so I'm hoping you will too. It's a long road....but I feel it will be worth it in the end.
