Last night I feel pretty suddenly on my bottom and it sent a jolt up my spine, into my cervical spine and the back of my head where I had the surgery. There was a quick twinge of pain and I developed a headache later on that night, but it had subsided by this morning so I was not thinking much of it. Today during physical therapy my neck cracked and caused sharp pains in my head and neck and I started seeing stars. Now about three hours later the stars have not gone away at all. I had times preop if I turned my head of seeing stars for a short time, but it always subsided in a minute or two. Has anyone had an episode like this?

Hello,

I see stars most of the time, to a degree, but I'm not sure if we are talking about the same thing or not. I always see this sparkling static and then if it is brighter out, it turns into these flashing little spots all over the place. I've had this before and after surgery (never went away) and I'm pretty sure it was the result of high pressure. It is also common to have this with a migraine but I think you said that your headache went away...

I am wondering if b/c you are healing that when you had those two events happen that maybe it caused some swelling in the neck muscle or something and that's affecting a nerve? Or maybe the pressure has gone up in your head? So hard to know so it's really good that you are going to talk to your Dr.

Let us know how you are!

I am only five weeks post op. No I did not ask the pt about the stars because it was at the very end and I expected them to go away. SInce it has been four hours now I have called my doctor the nurse wanted me to talk with him directly so I am waiting for him to call.

U r still in the pretty early stages of recovery ...right?

With that in mind, it could be bcuz u r still healing that it is taking a longer time to go away.
May I ask what did the PT say about it..did u mention the stars? And depending on what was done b4 the stars appeared, I would avoid that for a bit too.

During the healing process it can get daunting as we do acquire some of our old symptoms back, but they do not last as long nor as painful....

If it should last as long or longer, call ur dr for advice.
