I agree with u, not too many understand bipolar, like they do not understand chiari...but, there r similar symptoms...not they we have it....
Just like the symptoms r similar to MS...but that does not mean we have it...but, and I mean BUT...there r a few that do have both.
We do need to rule everything out, and not listen to those that have no idea what it is , or care about labels....instead find a way to cope with what is going on so we r not distanced from our loved ones.

If people actually knew what bipolar was, they'd not say that they think you are. Bipolar causes prolonged periods of mania & depression, not mood changes from one day to another. I have bipolar & I go through a few weeks of mania: more energy, insomnia, restlessness, creative energy, etc. These manic phases usually last a few weeks for me. For others, they can last months. They will be followed by a depressive crash. I'm lucky that my depressive phases only last a few weeks too. Most often time I'm in a normal phase. Now i'm on meds though, so I don't cycle like that.
It is possible for us to exhibit signs similar to bipolar....I know I did...and at times I can still get good and mad over nothing.....and I know it while I am doing it that is what gets me ...but post op I am so much better, I hardly get like that....so it can get better.
We have to explain how we r overly sensitive and we need to walk away to think things thru b4 we react....so ask ur family to give u that time so u do not react poorly....u need their help....
Use music or what ever it is that helps to calm u down even if ur family puts it on when they see u get upset it may help...
worth a try : )
Not only do I upset everyone else, as they think im bi polar, but it makes my own symptoms horrible. But im in some sort of pain everyday and have no idea how to come to terms with it.
But its not easy. I find myself snapping at my boys one min then completly fine the next. Arguin with bf intead of just talkin. How do I find a way to control this. Theres no in between for me.
Chiari affects our brain stem, which is the control center for all the functions in our body including emotions...so, we may be quicker to anger, cry...or laugh at the wrong times.
Be aware that it is chiari and try to relax when u feel it coming on.
