Surgery canceled till after new year...

our stinking furnace decided to have problems and not work (so annoying considering we bought this house new and its only been 5yrs) qnd fixing it took pretty much all of our $ we had saved up to live on while hubby was off of work (since he was outta time, it was all fmla unpaid)...so rather then him having to hurry back to work and leave me alone without help,  and me stessing about $ etc, we decided to   cancelcancel

  Wow u did have a lot going on.....but it is good that the meds are helping u...so many of us do not get relief from meds....so u r very lucky u get some help from them.

I wrote down ur surgery date...do confirm it in the surgery thread so I can get a Prayer thread up for u....know we all will be thing about u.....

As for the nausea and pain, it is easy to forget as u heal....and it was short lived compared to the rest of the journey...I think find a Dr was worse then the post op reality...JMHO and in my case...lol...

Grrr, there was supposed to be paragraphs more of explanation after my first sentence.  It disappeared!!!  Yes..-after being delayed last fall due to hubby not having anymore paid time off and our furnace going kaplooey, we decided to push it to jan or feb.  well on January 1, my husband fell and broke his leg and he was off work and in a cast until almost April! So couldn't do surgery then!  I am luckily still feeling quite well, pain is managed with neurontin and Advil cold and sinus, and anxiety with celexa! But I did have another MRI two weeks ago and it showed my syrinx has got larger, only slightly but larger :(.  I still don't want surgery but after talking the other day again to my neurosurgeon I need to have it.  He said it is not a matter of if I need it it when and sooner the better because of how wide my syrinx is and the strain and pressure it's causing on my spinal cord.  So as of now I am scheduled for surgery June 6th!! I'm still super scared of the pain and nausea but am hoping I'm just over thinking it!

I left you a PM about your comments here as I keep getting an error telling me not to put my real name, email or personal information on here. It has done this to me several times today! I am praying for you sweetie and praying for understanding for your mom. I know it can be very hard when you have family members that don't understand and want to just blow off your condition because it scares them or they just flat out don't want to accept how serious it is!

I am so sorry you had to cancel your surgery for now! I know in some ways like you said you were ready to get it over with and in some ways it's a relief that you will have a bit of a respite before the pain of surgery.
Stupid furnace! Where you live you really need it! I know how hit would be on you if he had to be at work instead of there to take care of you! With any major surgery especially the one you'll be having you need total care for a while to give you time to heal! I wish I had a few million to help you with sweetie! But look at it this way...God may have had a reason that you needed to wait. Your DH being there may just be one...
I am praying for you as I know and understand the economic side of it! FMLA is wonderful to some extent if only it paid the bills also! My DH has had to take a lot of time off (FMLA) because of me! My daddy has gone with me to appointments when my DH & DM couldn't! My parents have been awesome with trying to relieve some of the burden of appointments and care off of my DH....but with my mom not doing well right now the tables are reversed & I'm trying to help them by going with them to app. and trying to help sit with my mom when daddy's gotta be gone.
I am praying that you will get everything worked out and that you are as pain free as possible until you can get your app rescheduled! Please keep me posted sweetie! ((((HUGS))))

  Hi ....I know it is frustrating.....u were scheduled for this Thursday....so I am sure that it was hard to cancel when u were so close.....

But I also understand the $ aspect of it as well.

I'm sorry, boy there's always sonething. When was your surgery? And have u rescheduled? I'm glad u r well enough to wait til u have help. For my 2 surgeries I was left alone a week post op to fend for myself, not easy...**** my fiance and mom took me from hospital to pharmacy day I was let out of hospital to fill my own scripts. Ya,some people don't get its major surgery. I almost passed out in store so we left. And my mom went back to get my meds. Can u believe my mom sounds like the reg drs, saying my pains are from the weather, or maybe my eyes are bad, etc...I told her if she don't get it, don't say anything. And she's the one whoes been to all my appts with me. I figured of all people she would be more understanding. Wow I got way off topic, lol sorry

Stupid phone! We feel I will recover better if he is home at least 3 wks doing everything qnd just letting me rest and not do a thing or worry. and after having to spend that $ he  would have to go back to work very quickly.  Since I feel pretty good, its not like its making me suffer!
Ugh, I'm kinda relieved, but them i kinda was ready to get this over with!
