Hi Laura,
I am so glad u r moving forward....that's a good sign.I was on gabapentin the generic for neurontin....it did not help my HA's and it gave me other side effects , so I had to stop taking it.
Everyone is diff , so give it the time ur dr suggested...if u have ne changes in how u feel report it to ur dr.
The flow study will be a great test to get done...y 6 months tho??This is a slow moving process to deal with the medical community isn't it?? Mt dx was in Feb '08 and I am finally scheduled for TC surgery.
Know u r not alone, and please keep us posted....I hope the neurontin works for u!!

hello all, well I went to see the neourlogist yesterday and she got my report from Cleveland Clinic and the Dr did say I have Chiari Malformation, but wanted other treatment to see and ENT for vertigo. I am curanlty in theraphy for vertigo, it has helped with the balance problem and the dizzyness, but I am still having headaches. So the neourligst is put me on the drug called Neurontin 100 mg three times a day, to see if that helps for the headaches. so far nothing , but she said it could take up to 2 weeks before I noticed something. So know i wait and go to theraphy and see if this helps. The dr from cleveland said that it the symptoms are still bothering me in 6 months then I need to go and have a MRI with a CSF folw study done. So that is where I am. Has anybody taken Neurontin for Chiari headaches???
thanks
Laura

I've never used Topamax, but it's similar to Lyrica, which I am on. Lyrica helps me out a lot.
Understand that it's not like a regular "pain pill". You need to keep it in your system for it to work right - don't try and just take it when you are hurting. That's not how it works.
