Thoracic Degenerative Disc Disease

Thoracic Degenerative Disc Disease

I just received my thoracic/lumbar spine MRI report.  The most concerning things I see are:  "Degenerative Disc Disease seen from T6 to T9 with evidence of disc herniation at T6-T7 and T8-T9 producing slight mass effect on the spinal cord" and "Also there is suspicion for a left neural foraminal disc herniation producing mild narrowing of the neural foramina".  In addition, the Lumbar report states:  "The worst findings are seen at L4-L5 where there is evidence of circumferential disc bulge effacing the ventral sac.  Also facet hypertrophy and hypertrophy of the ligamentum flavum is seen, left more than right.  Narrowing of the subarticular recess is present".

Okay, so here's my question....in my research I've learned that Thoracic DDD is rare...but somewhat consistent within the EDS cluster of symptoms.  Does this put 1 more "check mark" in the EDS column?  Does anyone have any insight they can share?

Hi...I know this DDD sounds like a lot...but, it is a normal aging process that can accelerate with EDS,....

And it is not really a disease, that is just a name...not sure y... but it is.
Degenerative disc disease is not really a disease but a term used to describe the normal changes in your spinal discs as you age. Spinal discs are soft, compressible discs that separate the interlocking bones (vertebrae) that make up the spine. The discs act as shock absorbers for the spine, allowing it to flex, bend, and twist. Degenerative disc disease can take place throughout the spine, but it most often occurs in the discs in the lower back (lumbar region) and the neck (cervical region).

The problem those of us have with Chiari is u have a diff time knowing which condition is causing symptoms...as with the DDD, u also have some narrowing which in most cases is referred to as stinosis...with EDS the collagen and ligaments r not as strong as they should be  and do not hold the bones in place and this allows us to have more of these issues, and bulging disks can cause a CSF blockage just like the cerebral tonsils....and with that comes the same symptoms.

I would say yes, that puts another check.....
