Hi...many of us are prone to related conditions some are connective tissue disorders while others are autoimmune conditions . One such condition is HASHIMOTO'S THYROIDITIS and can cause all sorts of throat issues....and would not should on a throat swab for strep.
It may also not show if only TSH is checked during blood labs....one needs TSH, Free T3 and Free T4 and TPO antibodies...and an ultra sound of the thyroid can be very helpful too.
This is just one thing to rule out....but I am also wondering when your last MRI was as it is possible to have changes in how your Chiari is affecting you and your overall health.
I am actually having these symptoms (without the blisters), but I had the decompression surgery on April 2nd. I think it is the swelling & inflammation causing it for me. I do find crushed ice, popsicles, & ice packs to neck for 15-20 minutes help with discomfort. Does it make you feel like your glands near your throat are swollen?? It does for me. Hopefully this resolves in time, but don't expect full relief immediately after surgery. Everyone is different so you may have some relief post op, but I wouldn't expect it right away!! Good luck with you NS appointment.
I would like someone to respond to this as well.
My symptoms are getting worse. Dx in September. For a month been having sore throats ALOT. Thought it was just flu symptoms, but it comes and goes everyday. Strep negative, but getting blisters too.
