Well if how I woke up is an indicator at all of how the day shall be...it's gonna be GREAT!!!
For the first time in I don't know how long I woke up pain free!!'
It couldn't be a better day to be pain free either because 2 of my boys go into LA today to see their Urologist. My 11 year old has a surgery consult and my 23 month old has his yearly visit to him to see if we do surgery now or wait another year. It's nice to know I won't be dealing with pain along with these 2 drs visits!
@Viv, remember my son needs the same surgery as urs did...that's my 11 year old.
My 23 month old was born with Megalourethra which pretty much means his urethra isn't straw like and it balloons. Eventually it has to be fixed but dr wants to wait because he wants to see if there is any other problems associated with it. Also when he does have surgery he will be cirrcumsized as well because we weren't able to do that at birth like we did the other 2. I was only the 10th person to be diagnosed (or I guess my son was) with Megalourethra in the womb. At the time they gave us a 67% chance that he wouldn't make it. We rolled the dice and put it in Gods hands and now I have an almost 2 year old!
No pain for my little man...surgery would have been done already if he was. Truthfully u can even tell really. He's just a bit thicker down there but also he's not cirrcumsized so that makes it look thicker as well. Main concern (and this isn't for YEARS) is sexual function (will it rise to the occasion, so to speak). But that is not something I am concerned about now, ummmm they make pills and my philosophy is one less child I have to worry about come teenage years as far as teen pregnancy and STDs....ok I'm TOTALLY joking! But in all seriousness that is main concern right now! Dr is interested to see how he is when he's potty trained (does it get hard, etc) because I guess that is a good way to predict future performance (I couldn't resist) and also the nature of the surgery he (may) need.
Sorry if I sound canny...I feel good today and Im fiesty...lol!!!! Are u feeling better Viv?
So just got back from the dr and it was a good visit!! Found out my youngest may not ever need surgery, HOORAY!!!! He also doesn't have to go back to see the Urologist for 2 year, instead of the normal every year!!! He said circumsision is something that we can discuss then. Ok, I'm cool with that!!
My oldest will be having surgery on 10/25. I'm glad it is scheduled and we have a date because he was having some discomfort and I don't like my babies to not feel good at all.
So all in all, it's still a good day and I feel better knowing my boys r getting the care they need!!!
Doctor said about 3-4 weeks with no PE and since hes having surgery on a Thursday obviously that Friday and probably a good part of the next week if not all of it off school. Does that sound about the same as with ur son, Viv?
Yeah, i cant see that being too comfortable!! Note to self...no bike riding for at least a month!!!
My plans were originally to wait until Summer so he didnt miss school but with him having some pain and discomfort i decided that sooner ratherthan later would be best. Dr agreed with me and got him in as soon as he could. Now i need to talk to my NS today about extending my off work order because i need to be off to take him to his surgery and also follow up appt and then to be home with him while he is recovering. I dont see it being an issue and Im not ready to go back to work yet anyway...hopefully my NS agrees. Im hoping to be able to go back mid to late November.
We'll see, i see my NS in 2 1/2 hours.
