Stay strong!!! :) Hopefully you will be home soon.  I found the need for pain meds went away pretty quickly.  I am hoping for you that starts to happen!!! It stinks when they can't keep it under control in the hospital, very frustrating!  It is all trial and error and finding what works well for you.  What are they trying?  Some things wear off quite fast and they just can't give you more too fast.  I made sure they kept tylenol going too so that I had something to help when the heavier things wore off!  That is good you are not puking and you can eat.  I could eat after the first surgery too and wasn't puking.  Lucky for that!!! Good luck with pain control and hopefully you will be comfy in your own bed really soon! -zygy

Not going home today, but that is ok, I'm in too much pain...I'm doing well other wise though.I'm walking fine and my range of motion is fine and I haven't thrown up I've and I have eaten full meals seven right after surgery. I can do  stairs and everything, but again nurses aren't controlling my pain. So we will see.

That is wonderful news.  Just don't jump the gun and try to do too much too fast.  Best (but by far the hardest) advice I have received to date.

I do remember that I had a few nurses that were far better than the lot of others I had......so I understand : )

Not sure y ur Dr felt the need to make a longer incision since ur dura was thinner....u really have to ask him b4 u go home...and do let us know : )

I am sorry that you are in so much pain. Keep after them until they give you something that works sweetie.

As for the dura membrane being thin, if they used your own dura for the dura plasty, then they would have to go down farther to get enough for the job if your dura was thin already.

I hope you can get some rest and get your pain under control. I wish I was there so I could knock some heads together for you.

Also, what does it mean that my dura membrane was extra thin and because of that he had to make the incision extra long?
