i had decompression in feb 07. i was in the hospital for 3days afterward. my surgeon said it was the best recovery he had seen. i went in ready and excited to be done with the headache. the hardest thing to get used to was not being able to lift your head off the pillow. in the hospital i had some pain but they managed it very well. ive heard there are some people that have alot of nausea but they always gave me meds for that with the pain meds. the 3rd day i was home was the worst, i over did it the day before and paid for it. i had a headache that i thought was going to kill me and no amount of pain meds got rid of it.. but as long as you basicly sit around and dont do much the first 2wks you should have a great recovery. a recliner would be great for sleeping because getting from lying to sitting is really painful for the first week. and driving will be out of the question because you cant really look side to side. i think i was back to work after 5wks on restrictions and to full duty after 4months.

Hi...everyones experience will be diff as will their  surgery experience....I was in ICU for 2.5 days...and the hospital for 5.5 days....I am older that u too and I am sure that plays into it, as will if u have ne chiari related issues like Ehlers-Danlos..etc.

I can not imagine going back to work after 5 weeks....so tashua must have diff healing properties than I do.....
Again, keep in mind we r all diff and there r set backs and other conditions one can develop as a result of the surgery itself.

Plus, we all respond to meds diff too!

Please keep us posted
