after effects

My daughter was diagnosed with a chiari malformation in 2014. Surgery was the only option due to the size. Hers was 19.5mm .The surgery went well and has helped the headaches but now we are having episodes with her vision going in and out blurred vision fluttering or blackout vision with her losing feelings in her hands. The nausea has never ceased. She gets confused and loses her train of thought. She says her brain feels off at times Just wondering if any of you still experience any of the symptoms caused by the malformation

I know how scary this can be for any one.  I have a few suggestions because I was having this going on this past year also.   For 1 I was drinking TOO much water.  My kidneys failed back in April working only at 16 percent.  The Kidney Dr.. states we should only drink up to 1 liter of water a day.. At least that is what he suggested for me.  Also my sodium and potassium was dangerously low so I would suggest getting these checked.  You can have this done by a blood test.  The possassium was what made me dizzy, I didin't know what day it was I was so confused .    So please get these checked.  Wishing you the best.
Linda :)

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

You said surgery was the only option bcuz of the size?...Not sure what you mean....did she have a syrinx, or a CSF obstruction and any other related conditions?

What are her daily activities? When did she go back to a "normal" routine?

It sounds like there is something more going on....did she have a post op MRI?
