another doc I am not sure I can trust

another doc I am not sure I can trust

I went to a chiropractor today.  He said everythign I have is related to whiplash and he can fix it with no problem.   That would be wonderful, but as with anything if it is too good to believe it probably isn't real.   I felt like he was selling me something.  He turned my head and pressed on my neck and I swear my heart rate stopped.  I think he did something to put pressure on the vagus nerve.  The he didn't even know how to check my pulse which I myself had trouble finding at this point.   There was just something off.  He was going on about how when he was 28 he solved a case that no other doc had been able to do and blaa blaa blaa.  I am not sure if I can trust him.  But he would sign my workers comp forms and I would be able to get some income coming in which will be such a huge help.   I might even be able to get better if that is really all this is from.  When I mentioned that I may have Chiari he told me it is rare and that it is unlikely.  hopefully I can find out something tom at the NS.  to know what I should do.  until then I may have to just this doc.

Well Angie....if ur issues are Chiari,, u should NOT be going to a chiropractor.Especially getting the neck manipulated....ouch makes me hurt just thinking about it.

Be very careful ...I know u need an income, but u need a dr that knows something about chiari.

Trust ur gut when it comes to drs....remember u have to be comfortable with ur dr...especally a chiro......if u r tense they can really hurt u.

I am just worried that this is not Chiari that doc who knows which number was right and this is only whiplash related.  I have never heard of whiplash getting worse or causeing visual disturbances or numbness in hands and feet or even lasting this long  but he said it does and that most docs like to drag things out to get more money from you and your insurance so they just keep running tests and saying they havent found anything yet.  which maybe that is a sellin gpoint or maybe that is the truth.  all I know is that I hurt ans I am desperate and there are no docs yet that are willing to treat me.  They can't even dx me.   and none of my docs are willing to say that any of this was caused from the accident  at least not on official notes or forms.

desperate and in pain makes for an easy victim........

I just want to pass along a tidbit to you.  I used to have chiropractic adjustments all the time.  Way before I knew I had Chiari.  And the funny thing, now that I know about this, it makes sense that my neck and headache issues never resolved, though it did help in other areas of my body.... hmmm.

More recently, I went to a chiro... after I was diagnosed with CM1, but when I was still being told it wasn't anything I should be concerned about...  The chiropractor I had used an "actuator" or "activator" on me.  It sort of resembles a syringe, but bigger and with a rubber end on it.  The pressure can be adjusted to suit your comfort level.  Anyway, between pressure points and the use of this, I did get some relief!  There was none of the twisting, jerking, neck cracking stuff like I had had in the past.  This was totally gentle.  She didn't "manhandle" any part of my body at all.  She used the actuator on everything.  Now it did take a bit of time to start feeling some relief, but once it kicked in, it kicked in.

She is at About Life Chiropractic in Fishers, IN (aboutlifechiropractic.com).  Maybe, if this is the only way you can get help with your pay, she can talk to your chiro about her procedure.  I definitely would never allow anyone to give me a regular adjustment ever again now that I know what I know.  Just a thought!

Well, I guess I should change that to if the chiro knows about chiari and will not manipulate ur need it is ok.....hmmmmmmm wish I knew one around here. I went to a chiro for whiplash too....

And whiplash results in ur lordosis being curved the wrong way...and can even with chiari o causing more issues than a larger herniation could.

Thanks for the info !!

You might contact her and tell you heard about her and her procedures from one of her patients and wonder if she knows of anyone in your area who performs treatments like she does.  It's worth a shot.  She is a really nice lady!  And I know she goes to conferences, so someone else is doing things the way she does.

Since the last time I saw her, I have had a discectomy and fusion at C5-6, so I don't know what that means for the future.  I will have to check with her on it... but again, she doesn't do manipulations so...???  I am just giving the plate and graft time to heal.

Sounds great.....and I just may contact her.....I am not quite ready to go right now, but I know it is something I may want to do a bit later.

My mother used to always take me the Chiropractor. For a long long time it was like every week or twice a week. Reason why? He swore up and down that he could cure my congenital club foot. My case was severe enough that a NS in a Fort Wayne sent all of my stats and x-rays to the Mayo clinic who reqested permission to use them for training. Yet this Chriopractor still swore that he could 'cure' my club foot. Later in my 20's I had a different Chiropractor who said that if only he had seen me while I was young he could have helped. Well, I do belive they can help after and accident when bones are out of place. But chiari as with club foot is a congenital condition, both involving malformation of boney structure. It can not be manipulated back into place. Relief of the pain by means of the nerves.... perhaps.

Don't mean to step on any toes here, and I"m sorry if this note has.... but I would hate to see you end up with more pain. Please feel this one through.

My chiropractor also uses the machine and not 'hands on'.  I have not been there since before my surgery, but it was a life saver during a migraine.  My NS indicated that I should wait about a year after surgery before resuming chiropractic care, to give my brain and body time to adjust.  I can't wait - my back hurts more than my head.
