I have had multiple concussions, somehow it is always my head :) Headaches increased after child birth for me but the "other" things that started to happen were after another concussion. That was where the cough headaches began and numbness, and all the other Chiari goodies. Although we are born with it, it appers that just the right combination of hits to the head can activate things. I know exactly when I hit my head and things started happening, it took about five years after though to be to be at the point where I really knew something was wrong. -zygy
Hi...it is possible to have acquired chiari from a traumatic injury such as a concussion,.
Many times a dr will say the patient has low lying tonsils and is absent for chiari....the reason is, chiari is the malformation of the skull leaving it too small to contain the cerebellum part of the brain and it is forced down on the the spinal cord and brain stem.
With an acquired chiari with herniated tonsils the skull does have the space and many times the tonsil do contract back into place.....
BUT- some r congenital chiari being triggered by the injury....so be sure to check if the skull is malformed and has the room to see if it is a true chiari....either way the symptoms r the same.
