All we all want is a long rich life full of laughter and love <3
Haha yea. Just pray i can laugh til the age of 90 then i won't care so much about he end of it all!
Well see what age and chiari can do...lol...we forget...a lot...lol....but it can be funny....oh well....if we can not laugh what do we have....even if it hurts to laugh, I want to laugh everyday : )
23 :p u read just before! U even said your older than me Hehe
Not exactly....but that is not the way to think about this...it really isn't. I have no idea what ur age is, but I went thru all this at age 49, 2 months b4 my 50th bday and am now 3 yrs post op. Knowing now that I was dealing with symptoms my whole life, I do not know if I would have opted to have surgery sooner as they were manageable, once I was no longer able to deal with it I pushed harder for answers, and got the dx.
Like nething it is how it is affecting u and overall health....
I am not considering surgery at the moment to be honest.. All i have issues with is headaches and vision problems dizzy sometimes nothing i really want to risk surgery for. I am waiting for a ns referral and ask him about cine Mri and spinal for flow and syrinx. If blockage and syrinx then yes i am guessing surgery but i am hoping my flow is good ( doubtful ) and i can stay off surgery til i am older.
So yea i mean if no surgery is it more likely to meet my maker walking across road than i am from a chiari effect if that makes sense. Getting fed up more and more daily thinking what i have is terminal its not healthy for anyone. Finding myself thinking that suicide would be so easy in this situation and wouldn't suffer anymore.
Yes this is not a good topic to discuss facing surgery....however, it is a risk to have ne major surgery....that aside, I would think chances of dying in a car accident may be higher if u were to ask Drs.......
Just do ur research, get all ur testing done, rule things out and take precautions....that is all u can do.....
BTW- I know one death was the result of the dx taking too long to determine....they kept saying post partum depression and migraines...
so push for answers, and get the right Dr.
Lets put it this way
Am i more likely to die in an accident than i am to die of chiari related issues?
I have stumbled across many deaths related to chiari but i can't say i have seen more than 20. So i assume it is pretty bloody rare to die from it ?
I am not sure if there are statistics for it, and if u search the web, they claim there r no deaths associated with Chiari...we all know that to be false, HOWEVER- many times there is another condition involved and y I suggest so strongly to get all related issues dx'd and ruled out B4 surgery so there is less chance of set backs etc...also having the right Dr is key !!
Approach with a positive attitude u will have a better chance of a positive outcome : )
Is there actually a statistic for mortality rate for chiari 1.... I can't be doing with dying... My mother already lost one child... Now just me i can't imagine how she feels about my diagnosis ....
I can not get life ins , I was denied.....I am older then u and I am sure age and the dx played a role....so get it while u can and don't for get to pay ur premiums.
Ahh ...
I still can't get use to this chiari crap....
I even applied for life insurance today.... Im 23 and if something bad happens cause of this stupid thing.... Ppl around can't afford funeral..
Hi...it may be, but again it is not the length but if it is causing an obstruction that is important along with symptoms and how it is affecting ur overall health.
Keep in mind that a herniation can appear longer depending on the angle or slice the MRI was done on, so it can appear to "grow" when in fact it is the same size as b4.....
Gravity can affect the size if we r standing instead of lying down and y those that have symptoms but do not show a herniation while lying down may show a different scenario while standing.
Those that have a significant change in length lying and standing usually feel those changes when changing position.
