doctors in houston tx & after surgery pain

Has anyone had severe neck pain about 6-7 months after surgery? My boyfriend had his decompression surgery November 2nd, 2011 & about a week ago he started complaining about neck pain. The only reason i am concerned about it is because he NEVER complains & when he does it usually means its serious pain & REALLY bad.

Also does anyone know any good doctors that specialize in Chiari in Houston tx?

Oh my, well I was working with a PT while still in the hospital after my surgery and was told to do certain exercises to help avoid the formation of scar tissue and the muscles from getting tight.....here is a link to a chart of neck exercises, PLEASE read the comments to see which ones I was told to do and he needs to do them slowly....

thanks for the reply! what are the neck exercises? his doctor never told him about those... maybe thats why he is having pain now! and the doctor never ordered a post op MRI except the one right after surgery... which is why i'm looking for a new one for him because thats just one of the many things i thought was wrong & i'm not even a doctor!

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

It is possible to develop an issue post op and how long it may happens depends on the individual....the pain he is having can be from scar tissue that may have formed, or from muscles getting tight if he is not doing the neck exercises....it could be he has cerviocranial instability and is becoming an issue the more he is doing...or it could be his activities....

I would suggest he be looked at, when is he due for his post op MRI?

We do have a list of Drs used by the members, u do have to research them and there are a few in TX, I do not know their experience only to say they did treat a member for chiari and the member was happy with them and added the name to our list.
