does going to the dentist bother you

more curious here- i went to the dentist so he could finish a root canal he started back in late sept (was suppose to finish it a week after my chiari surgery BUT that didnt work out because i got awfully sick then needed a shunt placed) so I went back to see him and iam wondering if the drilling every bothered anyone? because after he was done drilling it felt like my head was spinning....

are there any steps to take prior to seeing a dentist?

he said me if there is anything he should be aware of and i said not as far as i know..but just thought id post this and see if anyone has something i should tell him? lol...Oh and yes he knows about the chiari and the hydro

thanks all

Hi,
I'm glad you posted this question. I went to the dentist last week and they were great.  They had me keep a pillow behind my head and it was much better. It was just a cleaning but I was a bit dizzy after that and later that night got a pretty bad neck/HA.  I have to go back on Thursday to re-do an old crown and I was also wondering about the drilling.
good luck to all of you.

Hi, I have the same problem when I go to the dentist when they have to drill.  Any kind of head vibration I seem to have that problem. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has felt the same way. It's silly how simple amd easy things that wouldn't bother a normal person can bother us.

HI Lisa...I would tend to agree the dentist visit may have played a role in how u feel and that arura HA u had.....the wash basin at a hair salon is on the list of don'ts....so I can only imagine the dentist chair is not much better.....I can also assume that stress from the just being there and having the work caused u to hold the neck muscles tighter than normal...so it too added to the HA.I had a dentist appointment that I cancelled as I was not sure I wanted to attempt to lie my head back in the chair for a check up.

I would suggest trying to use heat on the neck muscles to help loosen then up prior to going and when u return home.Next visit, if u need to be in the chair for ne amount of time ask if u can have a break where u sit up and do some of the neck PT exercises to help keep the neck from locking up. Just MHO.....
