exercise

I am wondering what you guys do for exercise with Cm and syringomelia. My Dr said to walk or swim. I bought a bike, the recumbent type. The first time I used it the next day I have severe headaches, "migraine" worthy. Any chance this is a coincidence?

Hi...we do have a thread on Wednesday's to cover exercise and weight issues.....

And which ones u do will depend on where u are in ur Chiari journey...pre or post op.

Walking, swimming and the recumbent bike are the best ones for us....but if u have a CSF obstruction nething that gets ur heart rate up may cause HA's.

It is possible to over do it ....so u have to listen to ur body, look to how long u rode the bike and how fast u pedaled....and try and do it less next time until u find where u do not have the HA's after...and slowly build from there...it may be possible that u will not be able to build up if u have not had surgery...

Take a look at the Wednesday Weight in thread.....these are exercises for those with balance issues as well as the build up of pressure so some may seem light at best...but again u build up slowly....
