head thrombin after surgery

A little background, had decompression surgery Dec 29th. Had a spinal fluid leak so had a second surgery on Feb 16th. My question is when I get up from a laying or sitting position my head throbs for a few seconds to a min. I don't remember this happening after the first surgery. I'm only 12 days out from having a spinal fluid leak repaired which a lumbar drain was used after for 2 days and the surgery went through the same site as the first one, slightly longer this time. I was wondering if anyone had a throbbing pain in the head after surgery thanks

Selma, that is how I have been getting up. Someone told me try to take deep breaths as I get up slowing and that seems to be working! I don't remember having this issue back in December from the first surgery. My husband reminded me that even though they went into the same area this was a different surgery so the healing process might be different.thank you for your support! KerriC  how are you? Thank you for your warm wishes!! I can always count on this group and it's a great feeling to have support from people who know what I am going through

hi! Just wanting to say I'm sorry you have these issues. I had throbbing also and still have a pulsing pain inside my head. Im not sure if that's what your experiencing, but i didn't have a second surgery as you did. Maybe it's just gonna take some time and will hopefully calm down so you can start to feel better! It's not a good feeling at all. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Hi gjjl yes this can  be "normal" post op....how are you getting up....I was told to slowly roll to my side and remain for a few seconds b4 trying to sit up....then slide my legs over the side and slowly sit up....

Especially since you had a leak try to get up more slowly and see if it helps.
