how was everyones halloween?

Hope everyone had a GREAT Halloween. I managed to make it through trick or treating for about 2 hours with my kids!! This is HUGE for me since on any given day I have to sit down after being on my feet for about 20 minutes or so!!

I know we hate it when the doctors say it - but don't forget the possibility that it for some of us, it can be anxiety.

I do have mitral valve prolapse, so I occasionally get the skippy bumpy heart beats and occasional chest pain.  A few years ago, a friend of mine was dying of cancer, and my father died during this time.  I was having terrible chest pain & was so scared it was something really bad.  Chest pain, worry about the chest pain, worry about my friend, upset about my dad, chest pain, worry about the chest pain... over & over.  I was afraid to go to sleep at night for fear I would not wake up.  I went in to a really good cardiologist & got the whole big workup.  Yes, mitral valve prolapse, but that's it - he gave me a beta blocker and I took that for a while until things settled down.  (I don't have another condition to attribute it to, like so many others in our group do either...)

Anyway, I've been having chest pain the last month or so (go figure... chiari dx & upcoming surgery, huh, I do have a little anxiety.)   My pre-op EKG & treadmill stress test came back beautiful.

So, I'm not telling you that is what it IS for you, but I find when I get some chest pains, it helps relax me to remember that bad time I had, and not start that whole cycle and make things worse.  (Yes, get it checked out, but the worrying compounds the problem.)

Hope this helps.

Tia...that's just like me....I went through stress tests, ECG's you name it and nothing came out of it. Then they told me it was pain from GERD, which I believed for awhile but when it started to tighten around my whole rib cage, I knew it was something else.

Selma...I wonder if I have JHS more than EDS? I am going to check that out. I heal so well that has really thrown me off..
Honestly, I think that the whole thing is caused by muscle spasms in some way, when my whole rib cage is affected, it feels so tight!!! Like all my muscles have tightened up.
FYI- I have been told some of this can be caused by thyroid if your going hypo...have you had that checked lately?

For as long as I can remember, I have had chest pains on my left side. After I thought I was having a heart attack my Dr sent me for all kinds ocardiac testing, and they never could find anything. I still frequently get chest pains but like everything else it happens so often I kinda blow it off. I wonder if that may be something I have.... hmmmmmmmm.. The thought of haveing anything else wrong with me just gives me a headache!

From what I am reading, that is JHS or Joint Hypermobility Syndrome.
And is related to EDS......

I only felt the pain in my mid back..but it is deff my rib cage....at first it felt like a muscle spasm, but continued to get worse. It is still sore to the touch.

I had no lung issues as all.....I am a mouth breather, so not sure if I would have noticed?????

My legs got very weak....and this was my left side......

I am perplexed

When mine flares up badly....it is a sharp burning pain in my breastbone about mid way down and it really hurts to the touch. Then it starts to tighten on my whole left side and I do get this sharp stabbing pain in my back near my shoulder blade. I have had this since I was about 18 and the first few times I had it, I thought I was having a heart attack. My GP at the time told me that some people have problem with inflammation and swelling at the breastbone joints and that's what it was. I didn't realize for years that it was costochondritis until I started looking things up myself and then I realized what it was. It affects my breathing when it gets so bad that it hurts to fill my lungs up with air, but it isn't actually causing breathing difficulties.

I feel just ok today. I'm extra tired and last night my back was killing me and my spine felt like it was on fire, but it was worth it to have a good time with my kids! (Even thiugh the twins slept through most of it..lol)

Selma, I hope you are feeling better today.

I'm sure this change is weather, at least on the east coast, is giving some people a fit!

Our Halloween was great!! Actually very low key and not too stressful. We only did about an hour with the kids and thankfully my DH did all the hills while I waited at the bottom!

Selma- I get costochondritis all the time too...it is so painful when it flares up it makes it hard to breathe!! Interesting that it's another sign of EDS...

But how do u feel now?...I usually push thru and then pay later...lol...especially if it is for my kid....we r moms and that is what we do : )

I was laid up in bed on strong meds...not sure if it is my TC, but mystery pain sooooooooooo bad I was making noise as my DH says.,....lol.....

I am going to look up costochondritis..which is an inflammation of cartilage and EDS is a connective tissue issue disorder. In some recent info I got, it says those with EDS can get this, I need to know just how painful it is and could it be what is bothering me......

SO glad u both got out with the kiddies : )
