Hi welcome here though feeling sorry for the reason.
I have read that skin thinning ,hair loss and looking much older to the real age are also one of the side effects of chiari.
It is perhaps due to the premature dehydration of the skin.,and scalp as well circulation issues .Infact I have read that even severe dandruff can be present.
Hair loss can be due to anemia also. like selmaS said Thyroid function plays a role in hair and skin.
However I am not medically qualified to tell as to what exactly is the reason.
reg drs., sometimes they themselves are puzzled as to what to tell the patients and tend to dismiss certain things as normal and merely imaginary exaggeration by the patients.
Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.
Many with Chiari also have other related conditions....one that may be affecting hair and nails could be the thyroid....and can cause skin to thin...so do talk to your Dr about an auto immune thyroid condition known as Hashimoto's Thyroiditis.....
With testing for this they must look at Free T3 and Free T4, TPO antibodies and TSH.
An ultra sound of the thyroid is a good idea as well as levels from testing can change and appear normal even tho an issue is present...the US will rule out the possibility of nodules on the thyroid.
