So glad you have answers.....ICP is very common in those with Chiari of any length and some feel the excess CSF is what causes the tonsils to herniate....while others feel it is the herniated tonsils that cause the CSF to build.....your Dr should be able to tell you if your condition is congenital and a bone malformation....

You also seem calmer and more relaxed....and I hope you continue to share your journey with us.

Hello,

Well I had my appointment today. He advised that he can seconds the findings in the mri, He has no other mri to compare to, and and at the point he wants to monitor my mri every 6 months to see if any change and yearly after that. he also finds me to be suffering from high brain pressure, and wants to LP. He as well advised that this process Is long and will be a life adjusting change. I wanted to keep you posted you were do nice to respond when I was freaking out.

Patience is one thing we all need when dealing with the medical profession as all we do is wait...wait for appointments, a DX. and even to heal....

Hang in there and keep us posted on what you find out.

Thank you ive been reading up on this. I do have imbalance, blurred vision/double vision,  high eye pressure,  numbing, all over muscle twitching,  tingling in feet, hands, arms and legs, and this week pressure headach where I cant lift my head, and nausea.  The ER Dr did CT but said see a neurologist, but everything looks good. I have an appt with neurologist next week.  The wait is killing me !!! I am so nervous!

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

First, Chiari is not the herniation and that is what your Drs are looking at, so you need to locate a true Chiari specialist....Chiari is the malformation of the skull.....and if you have it it does not matter how far your cerebral tonsils are herniated as you can still be suffering from symptoms....and  it can be affecting your over all health.....

Also, there are related conditions that need to be ruled out as well since the symptoms are the same....

There is a definition of Chiari 0 and it states it is when the herniation is less then 5mm's....and as I said it is not always the tonsils that cause the issues.so find a specialist to do more testing...a CINE MRI to see if you have a CSF obstruction...and since your herniation is minimal an upright CINE MRI would show how gravity is also affecting you as you do not live your life laying down.

Know you are not alone...getting a DX is only half the battle....next is finding the right Dr for you.
