muscle twitching

Is muscle twitching a common Chiari symptom? I recently started taking Clonazapam for anxiety, my doctor wanted to see if the lump in my throat was from anxiety or something worse...it disappeared :)  but I wonder if the twitches are from that drug (which I do not intend to stay on) or are a sign of something more serious.  With yoga classes lately, I started getting aching arms and legs.  Seems to coincide, as I started yoga in Jan. and the aches started in Jan. and the twitches began around the same time.   Thanks!

:) sounds like a bunch of good news. As for the GP, I would ask for a referral more than anything else just because there's not much they can offer in the these cases.

Thanks everyone!  As for yoga, you (Selma and Billy) have already convinced me that it's not the best idea and I have stopped. I have learned that any form of activity which uses upper back muscles seems to make me weak, which leaves me very little choices for activity :(   I swam yesterday, took it very easy, yet my spine (between shoulder blades) still hurt afterwards and today I feel weak!  I will be going back to my GP soon to mention twitches and spine pain and weakness...not leaving without an answer this time! I actually think I am handling everything much better on the Clonazapam...may stay on it too.  It was only supposed to be a trial for the lump in throat.  I did notice, though, that when I decreased the dose, I did get more muscle twitches so that's where the confusion came from.

Thanks again, everyone!

I would tend to say it is chiari as I had the twitching and was not on that med, did not do yoga,....it may be the activity is triggering it, but is not the source of it.

I have a few specific areas or muscles that twitch when they feel like it. Dr Di had termed this a type of seizure activity. Don't recall what he said though as to me at the time it was just 'whatever' as it's happened most of my life.

I believe muscle twitches are a symptom of Chiari. Mine seem to be worse when I'm stressed. I take clonazepam too and love it but everybody's chemistry is different. I don't recommend yoga if you have Chiari ... at all !!!
I think it's a really bad idea but I'm not an expert.
You can change medications if you're not happy with clonazepam but you'll probably still have twitches. You need to find out what's going on with your nervous system and fix it. Yoga is probably only irritating your issues. Be careful! <3
