need advice

I was told that I had chairi about 2 years ago. At first I pursued to get help was sent to a neurosurgeon and was told that my brain tonsils were not enlarged enough to be considered a problem. He sent me to a neurologist to see what he thought and he told me that it was all in my head I had full body depression and made comments about my hair color (I'm blonde of coarse). I have suffered from fatigue pain numbness balance problems for a long time. Every time I bring it up to dr I'm diagnosed with something else crazy. I just found out that I have scoliosis and have been having extreme back pain. I'm at a loss what to do no Dr in this area takes me serious and if I mention the whole chairi thing they act like I'm crazy. Anyone have any advice

It's not about size it's about symptoms and it sounds like that brain of yours is damn well crushing your spine into a curve. Where are you located?

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

It is sad to say, but so many of us are made to feel like that...like it is ALL in our heads...and it IS just NOT the way they mean. We refer to this treatment as The Royal Chiari runaround....

You deff need a true Chiari specialist to help you....know not everyone with Chiari is a surgical candidate....and that related conditions can cause many of the same symptoms....

Not sure what they mean by the tonsils are not enlarged enuff....it is not the size of the herniation but if they are creating a CSF obstruction and the symptoms you have and how it is affecting your over all health...

Send copies of ALL MRI's and reports to a true Chiari specialist to get another opinion...

Know you are not alone....and you are not crazy.
