Ditto to what Iris said,,...I had a lot of numbness ...in my hands, feet, and my face....it is a very odd sensation, and with the facial numbness came some sagging of my face as well....
We have to remember with Chiari it is affecting our brain stem which is the control center for all we feel physically and emotionally.....so do not be surprised to have these odd sensations, all nerves can be compromised with this,....so depending on which nerve it is will depend on what and how u feel or do not feel....
I had my emg yesterday and the Dr said my weakness in my left side was probably connected to me having chiari. it ways nice to hear someone understand. Hopefully my NS will feel the same way.The NS I saw Monday said he wanted me to wear wrist and elbow splints for 22hrs a day but I am waiting to see what the other NS says before I spend $100 on splints.
This is all a part of the process...I think the majority of us go thru these tests...and the Diff dx's and items like the splints....I agree wait and see what the other Dr says...and do make sure they check u for EDS too.....
Lol my fiance just told me the other night that I was talking in my sleep, frantic that a garden gnome took the back of my head, because I swore I couldn't feel it there. I get numb tons, too, and also have left sided weakness. Good luck with your NS appt, I hope you get some answers :-)
Have you ever been prescribed gabapentin ? What is it for my NS really didn't explain to me what it was for. I read up on it and said it was anti seizure medicine. I don't have seizures does it work for other symptoms of chiari ? I am afraid to take it.
I had my spine MRI today but could nor do the brain MRI because I hate tight spaces and that helmut thing they put on you made it worse so they scheduled me for a different machine on the 20 th but I see my NS on the 19 th.
