My doctor just started me on meloxicam 7.5. Yesterday when I went I had to get a shot too so I don't know yet if it was shot or the pill that worked. I am glad I can take it as needed. I hope it helps.
Hi...sorry to hear of your daily pain ordeal, I can relate. I have found (for me) that Meloxicam (as needed) is effective for taking the biting edge off of the pain. I have it in two strengths, 7.5 and 15 mg. It does not erase the pain, but it does take enough of the edge off for me to get through. Make sure to take this on a full tummy...it can upset the stomach. I hope this info helps....I tried a litany of meds (topomax included) and this one seems to help me right now. Good luck in your search.
I agree with u...I was not on meds either...many Drs offered them instead of finding a dx...being post op, I am on a small dosage to try and control the HA's as I still need a few more surgeries....some of my pain is not touched with the small dose I am taking as the pain is joint pain and Topamax is to help control HA's.....
Let me know what she says : )

I will talk to her about the higher meds and effects. I just don't see the point of taking meds everyday when somedays I am fine and I never was on pain meds as a child and till my wreck made me have days were I feel like I am dieing.
See I only take 12.5 mg of Topamax...that is the 25 cut in half......but when I upped it to 25 a full dose I had issues with my bowel and just plain did not feel good.
I had a bad reaction to morphine while in the ICU in the hospital...it did not work for me...we r all different....
The problem with taking stronger meds is when u need something stronger like when having surgery it may not help if u r used to using it for ur daily pain.....something u really need to review with ur Dr.

I was on 25 mg of topamax. It made all my pains worse especially my neck spasms and migraines. I also got very depressed and angry with most meds. I got vicodin an ER only six they worked ok. The only thing that has worked and with no side effects was morphine at ER but I don't know too much of it.
I hope your doctor is able to help you out. I am on treximet, toprol (that is for the POTS) and vicodin. I have had to go to my doctors office a few times go get a shot of pain/nausea meds. He said at my last appt, that he didn't prescribe me enough pain meds. Which surprised the heck out of me! I could stop taking mine at any minute and have before, but with the pain, I can't let it get ahead of me and I really don't take much. My treximet, I only get 6 pills a month. I am allergic to so many other pills and some, like you, give me horrible side effects. So that is why I am on both those.
I have severe migranes everyday though. I hope that you are able to get some meds for your pain. I too, hate taking pills. I actually gag when taking them.
Hi, may I ask what dosage of Topamax were u on...I tried to up my dosage and got worse, now that I am at the lowest dosage I am ok....just wondering if it was the dosage?
And by pain r u talking headache's...some have all over pains...so I am asking to what end ur pain is.
I am not a fan of meds either, so I understand where u r coming from.
