post surgery

My Chiari decompression was on January 14th.  Some of my symptoms are better and some are not.  But at least 1/2 are better.  I was on hydrocodone lowering the dose as I went along in recovery and am weaning off.  Today was my first day I was able to go without my low dose of hydrocodone and so far no headache as long as I drink caffiene.  If i do not drink caffiene the headaches come back.  I do not want to stay on the hydrocodone too long in fear of becoming addicted.  Can anyone give me any suggestions.
Thanks
cfinniss

As I understand it; Topamax can be used for neurological pain, migraines, certain depressions, bipolar disorders, and seizures. If you have any of these, I would talk with your Primary Care Physician before stopping taking them.

I am wondering if people who previously were taking medications, like Topamax, Cymbalta, etc before their surgeries have been instructed by their doctors to keep taking these medications? Is there really a need for Topamax still? I thought I was taking the Topamax for headaches, and now if the headache issues is resolved, then why keep taking the medication?  Just wondering what everyone else is doing?
