prominent brain ventricles

I have Chiari Malformation type 1.. treated in 1999.. So, My question is my brain ct scan showed Prominent Brain Lateral Ventricles.. = larger then normal.. so does this mean I have hydrocephalus?    My Csf flow around my herniation has flow.. no obstruction.   I am having headaches, visual problems balance problems.. numbness in my neck area.. extremeties kicking when sitting or resting.    I do have herniated stenosis in my C4-C5.. which I am scheduled for a fusion in a month.   Anyone with the enlarged ventricles where they don't treat?

Thanks, Anneliese

Hi...all I know is the Ventricals is the part of the brain that makes the CSF and may be larger then normal for a person ur age for it to be mentioned, but if nothing further is said then it should be nothing to worry about....

Do u also have EDS? U said u have a herniated disk? in an area of stinosis I think is what u were saying?

As long as u do not have an obstruction of CSF flow or the amount of CSF I do not know that the ventricles r treated...it would be the obstruction or if u had an over production or stopped absorbing the CSF then that would be treated either with meds if it is too much CSF, or surgery if it is an obstruction....

I hope that is helpful....when is ur surgery scheduled for did u post it in our surgery date thread?

Hi...i also think that large ventricle could indicate hydrocephalus.anyhow we all have diffferent brain and different spines.i do think ur stenosis is the cause of ur symptoms.in neck area it causes vertigo, vision issues etc
